AEG Files Lawsuit Against Danny Wimmer Presents For “Stealing” Rock On The Range & Carolina Rebellion

According to Billboard, AEG filed a lawsuit against Danny Wimmer Presents in a Los Angeles, CA superior court yesterday (November 29). The two previously co-owned and co-promoted Rock On The Range and Carolina Rebellion, but after their partnership dissolved, Wimmer re-branded the festivals as Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival and Epicenter. AEG’s attorneys say Wimmer “relied upon deceit and fraud to achieve its goal of stealing these highly acclaimed festivals.” Billboard goes on to say the company are “suing Wimmer on 25 civil counts, alleging breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of contract, unfair competition and trademark infringement.” However, the site also said industry sources have told them that “their deal also included language that allowed either side to walk away from the agreement and create a competing event.” You can find more info HERE.

Carolina Rebellion To Be Replaced By Epicenter Festival

Carolina Rebellion will not be returning next year. Instead, the event will be replaced by the Epicenter Festival, which is set to take place at the Rockingham Festival Grounds in Richmond County, NC on May 10-12. The lineup will be announced on December 10.

Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents commented:

“We are very proud of what ‘Carolina Rebellion‘ represented, so we understand that our decision to replace it was confusing to people. It took more time than we had hoped to make the final decision and then work out all of the details. Ultimately, we felt that there was so much more that we could accomplish in the right circumstances.

The creation of the ‘Epicenter of rock ‘n’ roll’ in the heart of North Carolina gives us the ability to expand on the festival experience with enhanced camping amenities, nighttime entertainment with no curfew, and expanded food and beverage offerings, all highlighted by a massive music lineup covering the spectrum of rock, metal and alternative rock music. There’s always a next level to strive for — and after eight great years of ‘Carolina Rebellion‘, ‘Epicenter‘ is that next level.”

This news comes after Rock On The Range was replaced by the Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival following disagreements between Wimmer and his former partner AEG.
