Islander Share Music Video For “It’s Not Easy Being Human” Featuring Lacey Sturm

Islander have premiered a new video for “It’s Not Easy Being Human.” The song, which features Lacey Sturm (ex-Flyleaf), serves as the title track of the band’s latest album.

Vocalist Mikey Carvajal commented:

“I had the opportunity to direct and edit our last few videos. There was no budget, and no film crews. All I have is an iPhone, passion, and iMovie. Thank you to my bandmates and @officiallaceysturm (and the friends in upcoming videos 🤫) for trusting me as I stand there with an iphone saying “I’m gonna make a music video with this!” 🤣.

I’ve always loved film. I shot and edited the first few Islander music videos, so it’s nice to be doing this again. Remember friends, it’s not about how much money you have (we don’t have any). It’s about how much heart you have to make something with nothing. That’s what art is.

Also, we would like to say how grateful we are to the fans that sent in their videos to be included. We had a ridiculous amount to use and it would have to be a much longer song to have used them all, so we used them in the order they arrived to us until there was no more time in the song to fit them all in the video. We watched every one of them and thought about the times we’ve met you guys at our shows and about the real conversations and stories you’ve shared with us. You guys rule and there is no us without you.

Always love – Mikey“

Islander Share Lyric Video For New Song “Skin Crawl” Featuring Korn, Zao & Living Sacrifice Members

Islander have shared a lyric video for their new song “Skin Crawl.” The track, which features Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch, Zao’s Dan Weyandt, and Living Sacrifice’s Bruce Fitzhugh, appears on the band’s newly released album “It’s Not Easy Being Human.”

Islander’s Mikey Carvajal said the following about the song:

“‘Skin Crawl‘ is a song about how trippy it is just to be alive. If you really think hard about life and death, I mean REALLY think about it, it’ll hurt your brain and make your skin crawl.”

He also added the following about the album:

“It’s not easy being human. It’s something everyone can relate to. We know that this life isn’t easy, and as frequently as we’ve all heard the saying, ‘people are dealing with their own struggles that we may never know about,’ we want to actually apply that knowledge into choosing to be good to one another.

It’s as simple as the title says…It’s Not Easy Being Human, so we hope it encourages everyone to show each other a little grace in this crazy life. We included a ton of our friends on the record from Korn, Underoath, Zao, P.O.D., I Prevail, Bad Brains, Living Sacrifice, Lacey Sturm, Fire From The Gods, and Hyro The Hero.

I’ve always been interested in seeing my favorite artists work together and we wanted to do that on this record, by leaning on one another, supporting one another, and just having a musical party. We even had the wrestling icon Sting star in a video for one of the tracks. A lot of rap albums have guests all over them, so we were like ‘why not just do that with our friends?’”
