Devin Townsend Announces European/UK/India Solo Acoustic Tour

Devin Townsend has announced an acoustic tour that will hit Europe and India. The trek will feature music as well as Q&A sessions.

Townsend commented:

“Hello everyone, Devin here. I have been busy making my newest recording, EMPATH over the past year. It has been a complicated and enlightening experience in that I have gone back to my roots in terms of what my motivations are for making music, in hopes that I am able to move forward as a musician being as true as I possibly can to my motivations.

The result is an album that I am exceptionally proud of, one that is uncompromised and diverse in ways that accurately represent where I’m at now at the age of 46. The past decade of relentless touring with DTP had been something that caught up with me in a big way, and as a result I felt I needed to step back from that world and analyse myself and make this music before stepping onto a stage again.

The time has come however for me to take the next step in my career, and when asked about how I would like to do so, I decided the first thing I would do was a very intimate run of shows that allows me to play my music stripped back to just me and a guitar. The shows are at nice venues, and includes a spoken word element with questions from the audience as well as aspects of my entire career represented in this one show.

Before I tour with a band again, I wanted to have the opportunity to play for you, and meet up with the people who not only have made my work possible, but inspire me to continue. In a world of computers and social media, to be stripped of all the bells and whistles is a very important step for my reintroduction to the live concert world. I truly hope you’ll join me and I look forward to being the most honest I can be with you at these special shows.

Thank you to Andy Farrow and Northern Music, Thomas Waber and Inside Out records, as well as all who have supported me during this period. I have not been as proud of an album as I am of Empath in many years, and I really needed to get this out of my system.

See you at the shows.

Love
Devin Townsend“

The group commented:

“Losing Oli has been a tremendous blow to the core of ATR, but we know he wouldn’t want anything other than for us to continue. He loved this record so much – it’s some of our best work. We look forward to sharing the music with everyone – seeing our fans from the stage. From where Oli loved most. It’ll be cathartic. We’ll need it to be. We all worked very hard, and are very proud to share ‘Victim Of A New Disease’ with you. Please buy / stream / consume any way you choose: http://geni.us/atrvictimall.

If you are particularly inspired, we welcome you to submit tributes, covers, riffs, photos, stories, or a good old fashioned video air guitar with us, via the submission page at http://allthatremainsonline.com/site/rememberingoli/…Oli loved seeing people take a shot at his riffs, and we loved watching him enjoy them.

Iron Maiden Announce North American “Legacy Of The Beast” Tour

Iron Maiden have officially announced the North American leg of their “Legacy Of The Beast” tour. The Raven Age will serve as support. Fozzy will also perfom at the Los Angeles, CA show.

Bruce Dickinson commented:

“We’re immensely proud of this show and we’ve had great reactions from the many fans who came to see us in Europe earlier this year. The production is based on our mobile game THE LEGACY OF THE BEAST which basically takes various incarnations of Eddie into many different Maiden Worlds. This inspired us to put together a stage show to take our fans through different Worlds and experiences set to appropriate songs.

It is not that easy designing different Worlds on stage and we put a huge amount of work into this to make it work and the end result we feel is our most spectacular and certainly the most complex show to date. We’ve got all kinds of crazy things going on, including a replica Spitfire plane dominating the stage during Aces High, tons of pyro, a giant Icarus, muskets, claymores and some truly marvellous flame-throwers which I have a hell of a lot of fun with, as you will see!

And of course we have Eddie, as you’ve never seen him before, and absolutely loads of other surprises. I’ve had the time of my life playing with all these magnificent props on stage, it’s been fantastic, we can’t wait to bring this show to you!”

Steve Harris added:

“We gave a lot of thought to the set list for this Tour as the songs needed to follow the narrative of the changing worlds of the stage show. We feel we ended up with a very strong and well balanced set mixing songs we haven’t played in many years like ‘Flight Of Icarus‘, ‘Sign Of The Cross‘ and ‘The Clansman‘ with songs we know the fans want to hear like ‘The Trooper‘, ‘2 Minutes To Midnight‘, ‘The Number Of The Beast‘, ‘Fear Of The Dark‘, ‘Run To The Hills‘, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name‘ and others, reflecting the journey through the different themes of the show. The whole band is really enjoying this tour and we are really looking forward to seeing everybody again!”
