DragonForce Premiere “Strangers” Music Video, Announce North American Tour

DragonForce have premiered a new video for their song “Strangers.” This track is from the band’s latest album “Extreme Power Metal.”

Guitarist Herman Li commented:

“This video takes place in the same ’80s world as our last video (‘Troopers of the Stars‘), with the same cast and the same director. When Roboshobo pitched the concept, I was immediately into it. I’m a huge fan of the glam rock-era of music – I love the showmanship, the guitar solos, and the endearing cheesiness. And the players of that time were amazing, like Steve Vai, Warren Di Martini, and Reb Beach; I think sometimes the playing gets lost, and people just remember the crazy outfits. So, this video is a loving tribute to that era – while also being authentic…

Roboshobo told us to get some cool-looking guitars to fit the theme of the video, and the night before the shoot, I was panicking because we still hadn’t found any. So, I texted Steve Vai and told him we were doing a glam rock video. He said, ‘come on over’, and when I got there, he had pulled out THE guitars he used with Whitesnake and David Lee Roth. I remember seeing these guitars in magazines as a kid, so it was incredible to get to use them on set – I almost cried when he handed them to me!

Besides the guitars, I think we all looked really hunky in our costumes, especially our hair! For a minute, I was even considering getting a perm…I know people may think we’re not taking ourselves seriously enough, but I think given the state of the world, sometimes it’s just nice to kick back and have a laugh with your mates. That was definitely the vibe on set – we could barely keep a straight face watching the playback.

We’re also releasing super-limited merch we did in collaboration with the artist, Teenage Stepdad, at: dragonforce.com/shop. It definitely captures the feeling of the era!”

John 5 (Rob Zombie, etc.) will no longer be joining Yngwie Malmsteen on his upcoming tour with Images Of Eden and Sunlord. He issued the following statement:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances and out of an abundance of caution I am sad to announce that I will no longer be joining Yngwie on the upcoming US tour. The health concerns for artists and their crew that come with travelling extensively from city to city during this time have meant that myself and my team feel this is the best course of action to keep everybody on my tour team safe and well. I am certain that these Yngwie shows will be amazing, as they always are. I’m sorry I won’t be there to share my new music with you all. I’ll be back out on the road as soon as is safe and possible.”

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators Premiere “The River Is Rising” Video, Announce New Album & Tour

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators have premiered a new video for their new song “The River Is Rising.” This track is from their new album “4,” which will be released on February 11.

Slash commented:

“There’s two or three songs on the record that were written during the pandemic; everything else was written before. ‘The River is Rising’ was one of the last songs I wrote before we started pre-production, and because it was so fresh and has a certain groove and energy to it, it was the first thing we really attacked. It’s the newest song on the record, and as for the double-time part, that was something that I came up with and tagged onto the end of the arrangement. Then when we were over at RCA, Dave Cobb suggested we do it right after the breakdown. So, we went straight into the fast part, and I just started doing the guitar solo over it. It was one of those things where we were jamming around, trying to fish out the arrangement, and it just happened.”

Myles Kennedy added:

“The lyric ultimately explores how humans can be brainwashed or indoctrinated by some sort of dangerous idea. Once we shot the demo back and forth a few times, I personally felt confident that we had the album opener. To me, it’s an important track.”

“4” Track Listing:

01. “The River Is Rising”

“What if we had some good news for a change? When life gives you lemons, make lemonade… So this is us making some lemonade! As you might know, we recently had to cancel our European tour, but we have been working our butts off this last week to do a quick scheduling of dates in the U.S. for this December. To start, we are going to replace the five shows that were cancelled in September (Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Rochester) and are super excited to add some additional dates in Canada and the surrounding U.S. as well.

Again, we are so sorry to everyone in Europe that we are going to be missing, but hopefully everyone who had a show cancelled on them earlier this year in the U.S. will get a chance to come rock out with us before the year is over! Also, Aether Realm and Seven Kingdoms are on board again so that’s some great news too. See you all in December!”
