System Of A Down And Bad Wolves Members Guest On New Version Of The HU’s “Black Thunder”

The HU have joined forces with Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) and Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz (Bad Wolves) for a new version of their song “Black Thunder.” This track will appear on the deluxe edition of the band’s latest album “Rumble Of Thunder,” which will be released on June 30.

The HU‘s Galbadrakh “Gala” Tsendbaatar commented:

“‘Black Thunder‘—the latest single from our sophomore album, ‘Rumble Of Thunder‘—is the composition we worked on the longest, and because of that, we recorded many different variations of the song. The lyrics and the video have several different meanings on the surface as well as on a deeper level.

Therefore, every version of ‘Black Thunder’ carries a certain unique idea. Our producer and our band members were amazed by the additions that were made by DL and Serj and their unique singing styles, which added to our beloved song. DL’s powerful vocals, topped by the Serj’s signature voice and one-of-a-kind Armenian-American style, is shedding different light to The HU’s music. We hope our fans enjoy this featured version and feel the soul of the song through their ears.”

Tankian continued:

“I had discovered The HU’s music from a YouTube video that a friend sent me and was instantly struck by their powerful and delightful merging of Mongolian folk and metal. A few years back I had scored a film called Furious where we also used the legendary Tuva singing and heavy guitars.

So, when they reached out to collaborate, I was intrigued. I appreciate the pride with which they represent their culture through music. It led me down a historical rabbit hole of Mongolians and Armenia. Genghis Khan conquered Armenia along with the rest of Europe, but the Mongols also later teamed up with Armenia to fight the Turkish hordes. Happy I had the chance to collaborate with The HU and learn all of this in the process.”

Laskiewicz added:

“Working on this version of The HU’s ‘Black Thunder’ was so much fun and so different from what I normally get to do. Their vision, their voices…they’re special. This is more than music, it’s a movement, it’s culture, and I’m honored that I was presented with the opportunity to be part of it.”

William DuVall (Alice In Chains) Guests On New Version Of The HU’s “This Is Mongol”

The HU have joined forces with William DuVall (Alice In Chains) for a new version of their song “This Is Mongol.” The updated take on the track is titled “This Is Mongol (Warrior Souls)” and an official video for it can be found below:

The HU’s Temuulen “Temka” Naranbaatar commented:

“We are so excited to be performing our single, ‘This is Mongol (Warrior Souls)‘. He’s not only an amazing vocalist but also has unique rhythm and technique to his performance, and his style matches our energy and our throat singing. The song is about the warrior souls that are within us, and its purpose is to inspire you and awaken your soul. We hope everyone enjoys this piece of art.”

DuVall continued:

“It was such an exciting and fulfilling challenge to write and produce something that remained true to The Hu’s sensibilities while also resonating with my own. ‘Warrior Souls‘ is a testament to the fact that, no matter where we come from, in the end, we all want the same things-to prosper in our own time despite the odds arrayed against us, making previous generations proud and leaving a worthy legacy for the future. I’m honored by this collaboration and very proud of the result.”

Director Michael Lombardi added:

“I had the immense pleasure of working with The Hu in the feature film ‘The Retaliators.’ Their contributions ranged from acting, songs appearing in the film and also on ‘The Retaliators’ soundtrack. On their track, ‘This is Mongol,’ their lyrics encompass a proud declaration of possessing a warrior spirit.

The Hu believe we all have the warrior spirit within us. Through inspiring with their hearts and courage, they awaken that warrior spirit in all of us. I have witnessed that the messages in their music are a total reflection of how they live and how they tackle their artistic process. The Hu approach their craft with professionalism, courage–and with infectious energy.”

UNESCO Name The HU “Artists For Peace”

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have officially designated The HU as “Artists For Peace.” The band received the honor during a recent ceremony in Paris, France.

Galbadrakh “Gala” Tsendbaatar commented:

“Mongolians have upmost respect for our history, culture and the language that was left to us from thousands of years ago from our elders and ancestors. The HU’s goal and purpose is first and foremost to perform a unique genre of music that gives strength and power upon every listen.

Secondly, it is to show the world Mongolia’s nomadic and environmentally aware livelihood that has been passed down from previous generations and to inspire others to live minimalistic lives and enjoy life to its fullest. UNESCO electing the HU with ‘Artists for Peace’ designation shows their appreciation towards cultural diversity and heritage pieces that are of great value to Mongolians.

The partnership between the HU and UNESCO will bring awareness towards every culture that is distinguished by their unique heritage and core values, so we are excited to be part of a movement that can improve and change so many lives.”

Nyamjantsan “Jaya” Galsanjamts added:

“We sincerely appreciate being selected by UNESCO as part of their ‘Artists for Peace’ and understand the importance of the designation. From a very young age we have been practicing traditional music techniques and instrumentation such as long song, throat singing, horse head fiddle, tsuur and tovshuur, as we know the significance and impact of sharing one’s culture around the world has to rest of the society.

Our music delivers profound ideas that are understood in the subconscious mind while delivering hard rock and ethereal tunes. On the surface level, our lyrics and music seem to talk about basic yet important principles of human beings; on a deeper level, they share the preservation of cultures that are in danger of going extinct and allow us to be representatives for groups who have slightly different world perspectives than the modern world. This is a huge inspiration for us and part of our purposes as artists.

Therefore, we will do everything in our power to be the inspiration for the cultures that are underrepresented and work with UNESCO to bring them the attention that they deserve.”

The HU Premiere “Bie Biyelegee” Music Video

The HU have premiered a new video for their new song “Bie Biyelegee.” This track is from the band’s new album “Rumble Of Thunder,” which was released today (September 2). The group commented:

“‘Bie Biyelgee” is about having a good time. We danced like we never danced before during the video shoot and the movements where we tried to imitate biyelgee were very challenging. The biyelgee movements require a different skill set than you would find in any dance genre so in that way, celebrating these qualities are fascinating and inspiring to us.”
