We apologize to all our fans who already made plans to see us and we promise to make it up to you very very soon. In the meantime, if you’re heading to Slam Dunk – have a great time – it’s a killer line up and any tickets for our headline shows are refundable at point of purchase.”

The Used Premiere “Paradise Lost, A Poem By John Milton” Video, Reveal Details For New Album “Heartwork”

The Used have premiered a new video for their new song “Paradise Lost, A Poem By John Milton.” This track is from the band’s new album “Heartwork,” which will be released on April 24. Bert McCracken commented:

“I’ve always been a bit obsessed with Paradise Lost. I really dug deep into the poem and its author, John Milton. As I was reading a lot of his political essays I realized that a lot of what ’Satan’ says in Paradise Lost are quotes directly from John Milton’s own mouth. A lot of people thought he was the devil back then. He had a huge problem with the show of opulence from the Church. He thought it was disgusting. His poem is about the failed revolution against the Church of England, which is Satan’s failed revolution on earth. And what’s more incredible or exciting than a failed revolution?”

“Heartwork” Track Listing:

01. “Paradise Lost, A poem by John Milton”
02. “Blow Me” (feat, Jason Aalon Butler of Fever 333)

Bert McCracken Discusses The Used’s New Album, Says The Band Might Open For My Chemical Romance On Upcoming Tour

UPDATE: The Used’s new album is actually called “Heartwork.” The below mentioned interview was conducted before the title was changed.

Original Story:

During an interview with Kaytie of Razor 94.7 104.7, The Used’s Bert McCracken talked a bit about the band’s new album “Paradise Lost.” On top of that, the frontman also seemed to suggest that the band will be opening for My Chemical Romance on their North American tour.

McCracken said the following about the new record:

“We had about 30 songs finished and I think there’s only 15 on the record so we’ll have a really cool B-Sides record coming out hopefully later this year. We wanted the record to kinda showcase the different elements within the studio.

Like some of the songs sound straight live like you would be hearing them from the stage. And some of the songs are kind of back to the first and second record style of production where it’s like some of the sounds are full production, its full like you’re in a little world of your own inside these songs.”

He also added the following about the title track:

“There’s a little arrangement in a song we made with a really special poem of mine, its the title track for the record on this new one and the poem has been around probably since 2012.

I wrote it in a really kind of horrible moment, a violent moment, an extreme moment. But you captured it and so you have that feeling, you have that little kind of capsule of that moment kind of ready, locked and loaded, whenever you want to pull it out, where ever you want to put it.

And if it’s good, it really does, you can read it five or six years later and be like okay I still feel that. I still feel that from where it came from.”

In the same chat, McCracken also hinted that The Used may be opening for My Chemical Romance later this year:

“When we first met My Chemical Romance, they were my favorite band. I brought them out all over the world. There’s a reason why they blew up and they’re one of the biggest bands of all time. They’re amazing. Been talking to Gerard and it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see The Used on that tour.”

He continued:

“I’m not saying… I’m joking. Come on, you know me, I’m a Kidder.”

The singer also made similar comments during a recent live show:

The Used Premiere New Song “Blow Me” Feat. Fever 333’s Jason Aalon Butler

The Used have premiered a new song titled “Blow Me.” This track features Fever 333’s Jason Aalon Butler and a video for it can be found below:

Bert McCracken commented:

“The Used are proud to present our new song ‘Blow Me’ featuring Jason Aalon Butler from Fever 333. Whether metaphorically signifying the power of words in general, or magnifying concern for the situation of societal gun violence, we urge the fans of our music to find individual and personal meaning in all of our songs. Thank you, and please enjoy!”

Butler added

“If I’m being honest, I’ve been a fan of this band since the first single they put on an Atticus Clothing comp CD back in 2002. I heard ‘Box Full Of Sharp Objects’ and thought, ‘This is it. This is the next step in heavier music with melodic sensibility’. I loved it. I studied it. Then I met the man that produced it, John Feldmann. Loved him. Studied him. Then a couple months ago I was asked by the band and John to sing on a track from the new album. They played me some songs and, no bullshit, I got that feeling I felt when I first heard ‘Box Full’ on that comp 17 years ago. For any and all The Used fans — they’re back again. In a BIG fucking way.”
