According to The PRP. ex-New Found Glory guitarist Steve Klein has officially been convicted of felony indecent exposure in a San Luis Obispo Superior court. This news comes after he was charged with “two counts of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 14, three counts of lewd conduct with a minor aged 14 or 15, one count of intent to commit lewd act with a minor and one count of possession of child pornography” in 2014.
Klein was charged after his ex-wife Amanda McCullough submitted video evidence that was found on a hard drive that they previously used for downloaded feature films. The evidence included numerous disturbing recordings of Klein pleasuring himself to underage girls on Omegle. Expert witness Dr. Nisha Abdul Cader, a pediatrician in San Luis Obispo County, estimated that the girls were between the ages of 9 and 16.
As reported by The Tribune, Klein ended up pleading no contest to an added felony charge of indecent exposure, making it so the remaining charges were dismissed. He will now serve two years of formal probation and will have to register as a sex offender for at least 10 years. If nothing happens during the first year, his conviction will be dropped to a misdemeanor.
An official sentencing will occur on March 9. Klein‘s attorney Ilan Funke-Bilu issued the following statement:
“He’s still writing great songs. He’s still writing great music. I think the future will be even better now that he can put this case behind him.”
