Dying Wish Premiere New Song “Severing The Senses”

Dying Wish have premiered a new song titled “Severing The Senses.” This track is from their new album “Fragments Of A Bitter Memory,” which will be released on October 1.

Vocalist Emma Boster commented:

“I wrote the lyrics at a time when friends of mine were coming forward about their experiences with abuse after years of their stories being invalidated and suppressed. As a survivor myself, it was triggering for me to see their bravery met with even more denial and excuses from the person who caused them harm. That feeling of anger and sadness I get in those moments will forever be unparalleled. ‘I cannot escape this torment granted by the hand of a coward’ is specifically about those triggered emotions.

After growing up in a home where I experienced violence, I had a very distorted expectation from men. As a result, I found myself in a relationship where I experienced other forms of abuse. ‘I felt the weight of every mistake you made’ and ‘I took the blame each time you broke my heart’ refers to the gaslighting and manipulation I dealt with in my first relationship. It’s a story I no longer tell because of how many times I’ve been told that my trauma wasn’t real. The idea of the letter on the deathbed is intended for the survivor to have the last word so they never have to feel invalidated again.”

Dying Wish Premiere “Until Mourning Comes” Music Video

Dying Wish have premiered a new video for their new song “Until Mourning Comes.” This track is from the band’s new album “Fragments Of A Bitter Memory,” which will be released on October 1.

Vocalist Emma Boster commented:

“‘Mourning‘ is written about a family friend who passed away tragically in a plane crash last year. We were in the studio writing the record when my cousin called me with the news. I spent the rest of the night on the phone with my family in absolute shock over the passing of such a kind, bright, and loving young man.

My friend’s death happened just a few days after Riley from Power Trip had passed and I had been watching the outpour of heartbreak within the hardcore and metal communities over Riley’s passing.

I felt really compelled to write a song about the passing of someone gone too soon that leaves such an incredible impact on our lives. It felt like now more than ever it was relatable because of how many people out there had lost a loved one due to the pandemic or the toll it takes on us.”

Dying Wish Premiere “Fragments Of A Bitter Memory” Music Video

Dying Wish have premiered a new video for the title track of their new album “Fragments Of A Bitter Memory.” That effort will be released on October 1.

Vocalist Emma Boster commented:

“‘Fragments‘ starts by taking the listener back to my first memory. I was five years old and I was the flower girl at my mother’s wedding. My biological father wasn’t in my life and the man she was marrying took a vow to fill that void.

Over the next decade I watched that same man who I had learned to call my father become a violent alcoholic. By the time I was a young teen I was being verbally and physically abused by him almost daily. I was living in constant fear.

‘Seasons of life forever change healing the fragments you still control’ refers to my constant struggle of healing from this trauma in my adulthood. The video ends with her stabbing him over the lyrics ‘I would bury you if I could’ because even after therapy and a decade of healing, violent revenge seems like the easiest and most satisfying way to cope.”

“Fragments Of A Bitter Memory” Track Listing:

01. “Cowards Feed, Cowards Bleed”
02. “Hollowed By Affliction”
03. “Innate Thirst”
04. “Severing The Senses”
05. “Fragments Of A Bitter Memory”
06. “Cold Hearts In Bloom”
07. “Until Mourning Comes”
08. “Now You’ll Rot”
09. “Blood Laced Misery”
10. “Enemies In Red”
11. “Drowning In The Silent Black”
