Putney commented:

“To be honest I was initially torn about doing this. The distaste and rage I have for our systemic issues in this country are more palpable than they ever have been. But I am NOT the voice of the oppressed, and I would never pretend to be.

What I can do is sit down with my fellow artists, friends, peers, and heroes alike and start a conversation about what we CAN do to support institutions for positive change, because something HAS to change. And the money that will roll in from this event will go to the experts. The ACLU. The Civil Rights organization that has fought for the purest form of free speech, justice, and equality for ONE HUNDRED YEARS (let one hundred years sink in for a second). The work that they are heavily involved in today aims to tackle these systemic issues.

The artists who will appear on this livestream come from different corners of life, different upbringings, different tax brackets. Naturally, some people are more comfortable expressing their opinions and beliefs to the public than others. I ask that you do not expect fire and brimstone from everyone, and do not scorn those who’d like to have a lighthearted conversation about music. The act of participating and donating sought after items to a worthy charity should be enough for you to understand their intentions.

This raffle will be one for the books. Extremely rare items, tons of merch, test presses and limited vinyl, music gear, it goes on and on. A lot of those involved are bringing something special and I truly thank them for parting with sacred items.

The link is live to start donating now. We will be announcing more details and giveaways soon.

If you’d like to participate on any level just message me.

Go big or go home.”

Thy Art Is Murder Cancel North American Tour With Fit For An Autopsy, Enterprise Earth, Etc.

Thy Art Is Murder have cancelled their headlining North American tour due to the coronavirus pandemic. The trek, which was also set to feature Fit For An Autopsy, Enterprise Earth, Aversions Crown, Une Misère and Extinction A.D., was supposed to kickoff yesterday (March 12).

Thy Art Is Murder commented:

“North America:

We are very saddened to bring the news to you today that this leg of the Human Target tour is cancelled, effective immediately.

We will keep you up to speed with future plans as more information becomes available, but given the sudden circumstances it may be some time before we can begin to make a financial recovery and commit to extensive touring options.

All of your favorite bands, now more than ever, need your support. The best and fastest way you can do this is by picking up a shirt from one of their online stores. These sorts of funds are the ones that pass through to a band the fastest and will help to keep them going through this down season, a roof over their family, and food in their children’s mouths.

We understand this infectious plague is spreading rapidly and negatively affecting more of us each and every day. We encourage all of you to look after yourselves properly, maintain hygienic practices and social distances, and pay attention to all governing and medical advisories.

We’re so sorry, we feel like we’ve let you all down but there’s nothing more we can do.

All our love, TAIM 🖤”

Despite this, the band are planning to move forward with their European tour in June:

Thy Art Is Murder Officially Welcome Drummer Jesse Beahler To The Band

Thy Art Is Murder have officially welcomed drummer Jesse Beahler (ex-Jungle Rot, etc.) to the band. He will be replacing Lee Stanton, who exited the group last year.

Beahler commented:

“I’ve been long time friends with Thy Art Is Murder, from touring beside them on their first American tour in 2013, to becoming a contributing member of the band during ‘The Depression Sessions’, and eventually evolving into a full fledged member during the writing and recording process of our latest album, ‘Human Target’. I’m very grateful to be working alongside great friends and musicians, and feel like THY ART is a band I was always meant to be a part of.

I am incredibly proud of the performances we tracked on our newest album ‘Human Target’, and it sounds so good in part because of the great gear we selected. Thanks to Zildjian, Tama, Remo, Vic Firth, Czarcie Kopyto, and Foot Blaster Triggers for creating exceptional tools that help me deliver the best possible performance every time I sit behind the kit.”
