AC/DC’s Longtime Engineer Says The Band Have “Been In The Studio Doing Something”

During a recent interview with Tony “Jack the Bear” Mantz, AC/DC’s longtime engineer Mike Fraser confirmed that the band have “been in the studio doing something.” This news comes after months of rumors that seemed to suggest that the group were recording a new album.

Fraser and Mantz had the following exchange after the engineer was asked if the new album rumors are true:

Fraser: “Umm… Well, yeah, I could say that we’ve been in the studio doing something. What’s come of that I can’t discuss yet, but uh…”

Mantz: “With Brian singing?”

Fraser: “I think so.”

Rumors of a new AC/DC album have been heating up ever since photos leaked of Brian Johnson, Phil Rudd, Angus Young, and Stevie Young at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studio. Johnson also added fuel to the fire after reportedly telling Terrorizer that the rumors were true. After that, another photo surfaced suggesting that Cliff Williams may be involved in the album, despite his retirement. Some reports have even said the effort will feature the late Malcolm Young on every song.

Day Of Errors, the band led by Bill Ward (ex-Black Sabbath), are planning to hit the studio this month to work on new material. Jason “Dewey” Bragg (also of Kill Devil Hill) confirmed the news on “The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show” last month:

“I know that we’re going in the studio [next] month to record some more. I believe there will be music to download and/or purchase. Tour, I don’t think that’s gonna happen. But there will be some music coming out soon.”

As I Lay Dying Appear To Be Recording New Music

As I Lay Dying are currently on tour, but it looks like they started recording some new material before they left. The band shared the below photo from Signature Sound Studio in San Diego, CA, while also confirming that drum tracking has already been completed. The group previously released a single titled “My Own Grave” in June 2018. That track was the band’s first since Tim Lambesis was released from prison in December 2016 after infamously trying to hire a hitman to kill his wife in 2013.
