Misery Index Premiere “Rites Of Cruelty” Music Video

Misery Index have premiered a new video for their song “Rites Of Cruelty.” This track is from the band’s latest album “Complete Control.” Jason Netherton commented:

“This video is a sincere shout-out to all the Misery Index fans who made the effort to come and rage with us this past summer on the various ‘Complete Control‘ tours – from festival stages to dive bars, we’ve hit them all, and this video is a tribute to the good times of summer past as we enter the darker months of autumn. We chose the track ‘Rites of Cruelty‘ as we feel it embodies all the pissed-off energy of our new album in one bombastic faceripper, from blast beats to tank-like breakdowns, it’s become a staple of our live set, and hope you all dig it as well.”

Misery Index Drop Off Remaining Dates Of Their Tour With Origin & Wolf King

Misery Index have dropped off the remaining dates of their tour with Origin and Wolf King. The band commented:

“ATTN!!! Hey all – Due to personal circumstances beyond our control, we (Misery Index) have to drop off the remaining 3 dates of the Space Control Tour in Texas. Mega-apologies to those who bought tickets or were looking forward to seeing us, but rest assured Origin Wake and Wolf King will still be there to melt faces. We will schedule replacement dates as soon as possible!!!”

Misery Index Premiere “Complete Control” Music Video

Misery Index have premiered a new video for the title track of their new album “Complete Control.” That effort will be released on May 13. The group commented:

“’Complete Control’ draws equally on our hardcore punk and old school death metal influences. The lyrics describe the awakening of a protagonist; one who becomes acutely aware of the totalizing power structures in everyday society that work not just from ‘above’ – but from within as well.”

Misery Index Premiere “Infiltrators” Music Video

Misery Index have premiered a new video for their new song “Infiltrators.” The clip features live footage from band’s December 3, 2021 show at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland and it can be seen below. The track is from their new album “Complete Control,” which will be released on May 13. The group commented:

“’Infiltrators’ is certainly the most hardcore-tinged song on the album (as well as the shortest). The lyrics target those who spew divisive, dehumanizing ideologies. It’s an outright rejection (and admittedly a strong one) of those who support and apologize for these people and their anti-social, fascistic worldviews.”

Misery Index Stream New Song “Strategies Of Manipulation”

Misery Index are streaming a new song titled “Strategies Of Manipulation.” The track was recorded during the sessions for the band’s new album “Complete Control” (out May 13) and it will be available as part of Decibel Magazine‘s flexi disc series,

01. “Administer The Dagger”
02. “The Eaters And The Eaten”
03. “Complete Control”
04. “Necessary Suffering”
05. “Rites Of Cruelty”
06. “Conspiracy Of None”
07. “Infiltrators”
08. “Reciprocal Repulsion”
09. “Now Defied!”

Jason Netherton commented:

“We are super stoked to present our new album ‘Complete Control‘ – a pandemic-spawned 9-track opus of vitriolic death metal which draws heavily on our enduring brutal hardcore and grindcore influences. We tracked the album in September and October of 2021, and it was subsequently mixed by Will Putney prior to being mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studios.

The cover features the visceral, uncanny work of visual artist Matt Lombard, which to us hammers home the contradictory forces of control and chaos which define our modern age. The album’s central lyrical themes focus on these competing forces of control and chaos; they interrogate ‘power’ as something that is not always wielded with brute force in the modern age (through violence), but moreso as a control-society where it manifests on a self-governing, individual level.

ALSO, we are looking very much forward to hitting the road again this year! Starting with a run of dates with our old friends Origin and Wolf King in North America, leading into festival appearances, a West Coast US tour and an EU headliner coming later this year. Until then, see you all soon and keep hammering the nails!”

Bruce Greig (Ex-Misery Index, Ex-Dying Fetus, Etc.) Passes Away

Bruce Greig has sadly passed away at the age of 54. The guitarist was a former member of Misery Index, Dying Fetus, Next Step Up, Fear Of God, and more.

Misery Index issued the following statement:

“This is really hard to write. We are absolutely gutted to learn about the passing of Bruce Greig. As a member of the M.I. Family, He was a one of a kind riff master, and an overall infectiously positive dude…and we will miss him deeply. Bruce was the driving force behind the ever-influential Next Step Up, Together We Fall and Covenance, as well as District Heights Records (Stout, Sean Wells) and the defunct Bethany Recordings. In addition, Bruce’s past band resume includes Misery Index, Dying Fetus, Fear of God, Voxhumana, Spine, and Desecration.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 22 from 10-11 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.”

Next Step Up also commented:

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we inform everyone of the passing of long time member of the Next Step Up Family, guitarist Bruce Greig. Bruce devoted 20+ years to NSU, contributing to countless US dates, several European and Japanese tours, and various releases, before stepping away from playing music in September of 2021. Bruce was one of a kind, with his unique/infectious laugh and upbeat attitude. In addition, his dedication, loyalty, musicianship, and professionalism was unrivaled. He was 100% devoted to being a part of the music industry, whether playing/singing, releasing music on his label, or booking tours. Outside of Next Step Up, Bruce was the driving force behind Together We Fall and Covenance, as well as District Heights Records (Stout, Sean Wells) and the defunct Bethany Recordings. In addition, Bruce’s past band resume includes Misery Index, Dying Fetus, Fear of God, Voxhumana, Spine, and Desecration.

Rest In Power, Brucey Bruce… you are greatly missed, Brother.
