AEG Files Lawsuit Against Danny Wimmer Presents For “Stealing” Rock On The Range & Carolina Rebellion

According to Billboard, AEG filed a lawsuit against Danny Wimmer Presents in a Los Angeles, CA superior court yesterday (November 29). The two previously co-owned and co-promoted Rock On The Range and Carolina Rebellion, but after their partnership dissolved, Wimmer re-branded the festivals as Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival and Epicenter. AEG’s attorneys say Wimmer “relied upon deceit and fraud to achieve its goal of stealing these highly acclaimed festivals.” Billboard goes on to say the company are “suing Wimmer on 25 civil counts, alleging breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of contract, unfair competition and trademark infringement.” However, the site also said industry sources have told them that “their deal also included language that allowed either side to walk away from the agreement and create a competing event.” You can find more info HERE.

Rock On The Range To Be Replaced By Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival

The Rock On The Range festival will be coming to end after 12 years. With this news, Danny Wimmer Presents have announced a new festival called the Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival. That event is set to take place at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH on May 17-19. Danny Wimmer commented:

“I am so proud of what we accomplished with Rock On The Range, and we couldn’t have done it without our partnership with AEG. When we started Rock On The Range, there was no other festival in America quite like it but recently it became clear that we had different visions of where to take the festival next. The city of Columbus and our devoted rock fans deserve a one-of-a-kind, world-class festival, and that is exactly what Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival will bring to MAPFRE Stadium.”

Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor & Christian Martucci Take Part In Chris Cornell Tribute At Rock On The Range

Rock On The Range organizers put together a moving tribute to honor the late Chris Cornell, whose band Soundgarden were originally set to headline Friday night (May 19). The tribute took place directly after Live’s set, which included a performance of Audioslave‘s “I Am the Highway.” It began with the screens playing imagery and audio from the singer’s career, and once that ended, Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor and Christian Martucci took the stage for covers of Pink Floyd‘s “Wish You Were Here” and Temple Of The Dog’s “Hunger Strike.” The tribute concluded with more video and audio from Cornell’s various projects, along with his isolated vocals for “Black Hole Sun.” It was an emotional and late evening for festival goers who had spent a lot of the day taking cover due to severe storms, which are still plaguing the festival today, but festival organizers did what they could to honor a legend.
