Ill Niño Premiere Video For New Song “Máscara” Featuring Fire From The Gods’ AJ Channer

Ill Niño have premiered a new song titled “Máscara.” This track features Fire From The Gods’ AJ Channer and an official video for it can be found below:

Ill Niño vocalist Marcos Leal commented:

“I’m very stoked to introduce ‘Máscara’ as a great addition to the Ill Niño legacy, and a highlight of my vocal career. I’m honored to have collaborated with our very good friend and one of my favorite vocalists in the game, AJ Channer, of Fire From The Gods. As someone who’s grown up as a fan of Ill Niño, and as a musician inspired by the band, I take pride and honor in crafting the vocals for the next generation. It’s something fans new and old will appreciate, and I look forward to throwing some chingasos in the pit with our Niño Familia in 2021!”

Channer added:

“Ill Niño is a band that will leave a strong lasting legacy on heavy music. Some of my earliest show experiences were Ill Niño shows. To be able to lend my voice to one of their songs includes me in that legacy. I was more than honored to sing on ‘Máscara.’”

With this news, the band have also confirmed that they are planning to release a new album titled “IllMortals” in 2021. In addition to Channer, that effort will also feature guest appearances from Sonny Sandoval (P.O.D.), Benji Webbe (Skindred), and Max Georgiev (Falling In Reverse).

Islander Premiere New Song “Freedom” Featuring AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods)

Islander have premiered a new song titled “Freedom.” This track features AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods) and a lyric video for it can be found below:

Islander’s Mikey Carvajal commented:

“I believe sometimes the things we call freedom enslave us. It’s easy to get caught up in our own vices or addictions. It’s important to constantly examine ourselves by asking, ‘Is this something I have control over… or are my own desires controlling me.’ Someone once said ‘freedom isn’t the freedom to do what we want – it’s the freedom to do what is right.’ That’s what I believe.”

Channer added:

“These days the idea of freedom has been completely misconstrued and manipulated. I am especially happy to feature on this song because freedom in the political sense might be the debate now, but freedom in the spiritual sense is somewhere that we need to focus more of our energy. I believe that’s what we are saying with this song.”

Rock/Metal Musicians Open Up About Their Experiences With Racism In New Piece By Journalist Liz Ramanand

Consequence Of Sound have shared a new piece by journalist Liz Ramanand in which members of Alice In Chains, Body Count, Nonpoint, Fire From The Gods, Zeal & Ardor, Skunk Anansie, and more open up about their experiences with racism. You can read the full article HERE and an excerpt below:

“In this installment of “Heavy Culture”, rock and metal artists recount their experiences of racism. Some musicians expressed intense memories of facing bigotry as young children, some as teenagers, and for others, there were too many instances to count.”

Fire From The Gods Premiere “Break The Cycle” Video

Fire From The Gods have premiered a new video for their song “Break The Cycle.“ This track is from the band’s latest album “American Sun.“

The following was said about the video in a press release:

“Fire From The Gods’ AJ Channer could not sit on the sidelines for one more day. When the world erupted in protest of the killing of George Floyd, he set out right away for Minneapolis. No better time than now to enact the philosophy supported by the lyrics of the songs on his band’s album, AMERICAN SUN, which was recorded in early 2019, well before this call to action heard worldwide. A song fully representative of that line of thinking is their single “Break The Cycle”, which revealed its stunning visual counterpart today.

The video for “Break The Cycle” (directed by Wombat Fire) is a story of support for people fighting to not have to fight anymore. It is the story of generations of struggle experienced by BIPOC all over the world. Footage from Channer’s trips to Minneapolis and Atlanta make their way into the video with additional protest coverage from the media and the proverbial fire started by the movement.”

It’s worth noting that all of the footage from Channer’s travels will also appear in a new docu-series. The press release also added the following about that:

“The moving footage takes you to the streets of Minneapolis and Atlanta days after the murder of George Floyd, focusing on why the system is set up to fail while investigating how we can change that as one united body. AJ interviews protestors on the ground, community leaders and other local artists to showcase the power of strength in community, and how we, as a country, can move forward. A written narrative on what he learned from his travels will be released on Friday.”

This news comes after the band streamed a live show on soundrink.live earlier today (June 18) to raise money for EmbraceRace.
