Fire From The Gods Team Up With From Ashes To New’s Matt Brandyberry For New Version Of “Victory”

Fire From The Gods have premiered a new video for a new version of “Victory” featuring Matt Brandyberry (From Ashes To New). The original version of the track is from the band’s latest album “American Sun.”

AJ Channer commented:

“These last 2 years have been tough on so many. I can talk until I’m blue in the face about how much we missed out on not being able to tour. We want to give ‘American Sun’ a proper send off. What better way than with ‘Victory.’ Big up to Matt of From Ashes To New for hopping on and blessing the track with his unique take on the song.”

Richie Wicander added:

“The new visual speaks to one of the biggest goals we have with making music – to speak to the human experience and call for connection. We wanted to use the visuals from social and political protests and natural disasters in my homeland of Germany, and Italy, to show that as a collective we are battling something and are in this together. We need to push forward and have perseverance. We will overcome. We will have our victory – together!”

Fire From The Gods Premiere Lyric Video For Reimagined Version Of “Right Now”

Fire From The Gods have premiered a lyric video for a reimagined version of their song “Right Now.” This version of the track is from the band’s “American Sun (Reimagined)” EP, which was released earlier this year.

Fire From The Gods Release “American Sun (Reimagined)” EP

Fire From The Gods have released a new EP titled “American Sun (Reimagined).” The effort features acoustic versions of “American Sun, “Right Now,” “Truth To The Weak,” and “Break The Cycle” from the band’s 2019 album “American Sun.” You can find a video for the title track and streams of the other songs below. The group commented:

“’American Sun (Reimagined)’ is a reflection of what we’ve all been through this past year. We originally dropped the album on an arena tour with an exciting, busy year of touring and promo ahead. Sadly, the world shut down a few short months later and we just never felt this album got the full life it deserved. ‘American Sun (Reimagined)’ is our love letter to this album; now we feel a little more complete and ready to create what’s next.”

Fire From The Gods Premiere “Break The Cycle” Video

Fire From The Gods have premiered a new video for their song “Break The Cycle.“ This track is from the band’s latest album “American Sun.“

The following was said about the video in a press release:

“Fire From The Gods’ AJ Channer could not sit on the sidelines for one more day. When the world erupted in protest of the killing of George Floyd, he set out right away for Minneapolis. No better time than now to enact the philosophy supported by the lyrics of the songs on his band’s album, AMERICAN SUN, which was recorded in early 2019, well before this call to action heard worldwide. A song fully representative of that line of thinking is their single “Break The Cycle”, which revealed its stunning visual counterpart today.

The video for “Break The Cycle” (directed by Wombat Fire) is a story of support for people fighting to not have to fight anymore. It is the story of generations of struggle experienced by BIPOC all over the world. Footage from Channer’s trips to Minneapolis and Atlanta make their way into the video with additional protest coverage from the media and the proverbial fire started by the movement.”

It’s worth noting that all of the footage from Channer’s travels will also appear in a new docu-series. The press release also added the following about that:

“The moving footage takes you to the streets of Minneapolis and Atlanta days after the murder of George Floyd, focusing on why the system is set up to fail while investigating how we can change that as one united body. AJ interviews protestors on the ground, community leaders and other local artists to showcase the power of strength in community, and how we, as a country, can move forward. A written narrative on what he learned from his travels will be released on Friday.”

This news comes after the band streamed a live show on earlier today (June 18) to raise money for EmbraceRace.

Interview: Fire From The Gods Drummer Richie Wicander

I was recently given the opportunity to interview Fire From The Gods’ Richie Wicander. The chat, which can be read below, finds the drummer discussing the band’s latest album “American Sun,” the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and more.

METAL ANARCHY: Your latest album “American Sun” has been out since November. How have fans been responding to the new material?

WICANDER: We have received a lot of positive feedback and I think our fans dig the new material even though it is not as heavy as Narrative was.

METAL ANARCHY: For those that haven’t heard it yet, how would you describe the record?

WICANDER: American Sun is a blend of Rock and Metal infused with modern Hip Hop and Reggae.

METAL ANARCHY: “American Sun” deals with a lot of political and social issues. Did you set out to make political album or is it something that progressed naturally?

WICANDER: I do not think it is a political album. It is a socially conscious album. It talks about what we as a society need to change, the tribulations of modern life and also touches on personal struggles.

METAL ANARCHY: The effort also has a sense of hopefulness and unity, which is something we could all use right now since we are currently in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. What advice would you give those who may be losing sight of those concepts during these uncertain times?

WICANDER: It is indeed a very uncertain time for everyone which is why we need to stay hopeful and positive. We should also spend time to reflect on what is happening. Think about how we are affecting the planet. The virus is yet another result of human greed… I have hope that these drastic changes will force us all to see things differently. Life cannot keep going as it was, we need to progress and change our selfish ways.

METAL ANARCHY: Earlier this year, before everything starting getting cancelled or postponed, you were out on tour with The Hu in Europe. How was that experience?

WICANDER: It was an amazing tour! The shows were sold out and people had a great time, great band to tour with, great crew and great food! I grew up in Germany and it was very nice to see friends and family all over the place. Definitely feel grateful that we got to do this tour right before the corona madness started exploding!

METAL ANARCHY: You were also scheduled to hit the road with Hollywood Undead, Bad Wolves, and From Ashes To New in May, but it’s probably safe to assume that that tour won’t be moving forward. If that’s the case, will it be rescheduled and if so, what can fans expect from it?

WICANDER: I have not heard any updates about that tour as of yet. We are hopeful but with everything happening, who knows.. Fingers crossed! This tour will be a good one, regardless of when it is happening!!

METAL ANARCHY: Since everyone has some downtime right now, are you going to start working on more new music?

WICANDER: I am currently sitting in my studio in Houston creating new material. Eventually we will all get together and compile ideas but for now it seems things are shutting down so remote writing is going to be a thing.

METAL ANARCHY: Lastly, it’s no secret that the music industry has been hit extremely hard by the pandemic. With this in mind, what can fans do to support your band and others that may be struggling right now?

WICANDER: Keep jamming the tunes and grab bandannas on our website for makeshift face masks! Buy music and merch from your favorite bands! That will help a lot.
