BABYMETAL To “Disappear From Our Sight” Following 10th Anniversary Celebration

It looks like BABYMETAL may be planning to go on hiatus in the near future. The band recently issued a statement saying that they will “disappear from our sight” following their 10th anniversary celebration.

The group said the following:

Sunday, October 10th, 2021…

Together with all 10 episodes of METAL RESISTANCE coming to a close, the 10-year legend will be sealed from the world.

Until that seal is broken, BABYMETAL will disappear from our sight.

Time is running out.

There is no eternity in God’s descent.

For now, fans can look forward to other 10th anniversary releases including a live vinyl series, which will launch on August 25, and a new “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” live album/film, which will be released on September 29. Several other things are also being planned before the band take the “stairway to ‘Living Legend’” after the anniversary celebration concludes on October 10.

Judas Priest’s Rob Halford Wants To Collaborate With BABYMETAL

During a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford reflected on his performance at the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards in which he performed “Painkiller” and “Breaking The Law” with BABYMETAL. He said the experience “was a blast” and that he would like to record a new song with the group someday.

Halford said the following about the aforementioned performance:

“I was delighted to be asked. It was such a hectic day that it was over in a flash, but it was a blast.”

“Once I knew I was going to do it, I thought about their outfits and went to the vintage store and got a black-and-red pseudo leather jacket, a black-and-red t-shirt from Amazon, and I bought some black and red sneakers as well. So, I actually put together an outfit exclusively for BABYMETAL. It’s in my closet still somewhere.”

He also added the following about the possibility of a collaboration:

“It would be great to jump in on a ‘Gimme Chocolate!!’ or a ‘Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!’. But even more than that, I would love to sing in Japanese, because I’ve never done anything like that. It would be a thrill to sing a BABYMETAL song, but rather than one of their existing songs, I’d like to do something unique. We could make a one-off special; that would be a dream. Maybe when Priest goes to Japan next, we can stop in a studio and do an original song. Call it ‘Fox God Metal God’.”
