Metallica To Play Two Headlining Sets At Five U.S. Festivals Next Year

Metallica have officially been confirmed as the headliners for the 2020 Epicenter, Welcome To Rockville, Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock festivals. The band will play two different sets at every event, with one taking place on Friday and one taking place on Sunday.

The band commented:

“You know we love a challenge, so when Danny Wimmer Presents invited us to headline all five of their spring/fall U.S. rock festivals, that sounded like great fun. But play two separate sets on two nights in the same weekend? Definitely count us in! In another Metallica first, we’ll be playing at all five of the Wimmer rock festivals in 2020 with two separate sets, one on Friday night, one on Sunday night.”

Here’s the dates for each festival:

* Epicenter: May 1-3 – Charlotte, NC – Charlotte Motor Speedway
* Welcome To Rockville: May 8-10 – Daytona Beach, FL – Daytona International Speedway
* Sonic Temple: May 15-17 – Columbus, OH – MAPFRE Stadium
* Louder Than Life: September 18-20 – Louisville, KY – Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center
* Aftershock: October 9-11 – Sacramento, CA – Discovery Park

Fan club members and past purchasers will be able to get tickets today (October 10) at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on October 14 at 12 noon ET / 9 a.m. PT. $.25 cents from each ticket sold through November 19 will go towards Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation.

Metallica Rumored To Headline 2020 Aftershock, Louder Than Life, Etc. Festivals

Metallica recently launched a mysterious countdown timer online and it seems we may now know what they are teasing. The websites for a number of festivals, Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and Welcome To Rockville, have been “hacked” and are displaying a message that says the admins “have until 10/10 12PT to give [the hackers] what [they] want.” That happens to be the same time Metallica’s clock is set to end. On top of that, some fans also found out that the band’s website has ties to promoter Danny Wimmer Presents.

The music community was dealt another incredible loss on March 4th with the untimely passing of @TheProdigyOfficial’s Keith Flint. As part of the group’s first North American tour in a decade, they were scheduled to play #WelcometoRockville this year and we are devastated they will no longer be able to perform. @TheCrystalMethod has stepped in to bring you an unforgettable performance in their place.⁣ ⁣ The Crystal Method on Prodigy:⁣ ⁣ “I like so many have been shocked by the sad reality that another iconic and influential member of the music community has taken their own life. I personally want to send my deepest condolences to Keith’s wife and family… and to his band mates. In the dozen or so times TCM shared a stage or played a festival with The Prodigy, I witnessed some phenomenal performances. Liam’s beats and propulsive sound was the sonic Fuck Yeah that so many of us old school ravers needed while Keith’s raw combustible energy and cyber punk persona served up the right amount of Fuck You to the establishment! I never really hung out with Keith and only had the briefest of personal interaction with him but he was always kind and I know he will be missed. #RIP”
