Listen To “99 Bottles” Benefit Single Featuring Pantera, Trivium, Mastodon, Etc. Members

Scour‘s Derek Engemann and John Jarvis recently recruited 99 musicians, including members of Pantera, Trivium, Mastodon, Arch Enemy, Exodus, Testament, Butcher Babies, etc., to guest on a special “99 Bottles“ benefit single. That track has since been released and can be streamed below. Proceeds from it will be donated to Old Dog Haven in an effort to help out senior dogs. You can still contribute to the campaign via GoFundMe.

Jarvis commented:

“In conjunction with our friends at Old Dog Haven and The World Famous BOOZEHOUNDZ (Derek & I’s satirical overly drunk punk band) we present the “99 Bottles” out on International Dog Day!!!”

Engemann added:

“This has been an epically fun project involving the entire Metal scene, and even a few Ska bands! This project originally began back in 2013, but was brought back to life once we discovered Old Dog Haven. The “99 Bottles” has truly shown the good side of humanity during these wild times that we are in. I was amazed at all of the people who were eager to sign up for a verse. Winston, Clementine, Tasha, and The Boozehoundz thank everyone involved, and thank you to everyone who takes the time to give this insane track a spin!”

Devin Townsend Reveals Details For Upcoming Virtual Concert

Devin Townsend has officially revealed the details for his next virtual concert. The set will take place on September 5 and it will find Townsend performing with Wes Hauch (ex-The Faceless/Black Crown Initiate), Liam Wilson (Azusa, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan), and Samus Paulicelli (Decrepit Birth). Tickets can be found HERE.

Townsend commented:

“So I was thrilled to announce my headlining of Bloodstock this year, and with an eye on doing my first ‘by request’ set that included my entire career, (including SYL and all the DTP albums), I know there were a lot of people that were really excited as well.

But then, as we all know, circumstances prevented that from happening, and that was disappointing as the show was meant to be a pivotal moment in my creative career. But every roadblock is an opportunity for something different so we have come up with a plan to bring you the show in a way I believe will be kind of revolutionary and damned exciting. We have been working tirelessly to bring you a ‘virtual’ concert of the by request set, with musicians playing together, yet all in different parts of the world.

However, I wanted to do something different, not the ‘brady bunch’ type split screen visuals filmed on smartphones, (they are cool, but also not really exciting in my opinion) instead, we have opted to make a full production, filming ourselves separately, playing our instruments live, on greenscreens, with 8 cameras each, (all at the same heights and distances for each of our remote shoots), and then combine these elements on a crazy virtual stage.

Its ambitious, but I think the closest to a monster concert as can be achieved this summer 😊 Considering everyone is scattered throughout the land yet not wanting to ‘let the dream die’ we have stumbled upon something rather amazing I think.

The players are Samus on drums, Wes Hauch on guitar, and Liam Wilson on bass… they have been going crazy learning the material, and we are putting it all together on September 5th, for the most ambitious live stream I think Ive heard of thus far. We have been dealing with Stageit to avoid any hiccups, and it poised to be rather awesome.

I will be live with it, and you, at this show, answering questions and talking to you throughout, to make it a totally interactive experience that acts not only as a cool way to spend a Saturday, but also as a potentially new way to do concerts entirely. The players I have hired have worked their butts off learning the material, and its going to be one of the coolest things Ive done in recent memory.

So please consider coming to this, Stageit has allowed the show to be the full 85 minutes, so it will be the full Bloodstock set. I cant actually believe we’re managing to pull off something like this, and theres a lot involved with it, but its worth it to me. Its not just any ‘quarantine concert’ this one is a quantum leap of sound and visuals. I cant wait for you to see this, hopefully you’ll consider it.

“By keeping the set times between 5 and 15 minutes for each artist, it allows me to not only keep things moving, but mix it up in ways that conventional festivals simply can’t. Every single hour will contain big names and emerging artists right next to each other.

I’m trying to look at the bright side of our current situation, and not only make this an entertaining way to see the artists you love flex their creativity in new ways, but hope this event acts as a place of discovery for every viewer out there.

Finding a band or artist to fall in love with is the mark of a great festival to me, and it’s my honor to share the work of these amazing individuals I curated because I’m passionate about them. I’ve been in touch with all of them every step of the way, and some even managed to throw me a few surprises.

I’m honored and humbled to have all of them part of this, they truly went above and beyond to showcase their craft for the Slay At Home fest, and I can’t wait for the world to see something really special come to life this weekend.”

Money raised from the event will benefit MusiCares and Global Giving.

The experience of a live concert is irreplaceable, but my aim with Slay At Home is to provide every person in the world an experience they haven’t seen yet, right from their own devices. I’ve never been more proud to be part of the metal community and have so many great friends willing to join the fun, as we support two great organizations.”

Watch Chelsea Wolfe Cover Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” With Cave In, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Etc. Members

“Two Minutes To Late Night” have shared a quarantine cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train.” The clip features Chelsea Wolfe and her bandmate Ben Chisholm, as well as Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, etc.), Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.), Urian V. Hackney (Rough Francis, etc.), and the show’s host Jordan “Gwarsenio Hall” Olds.

Devin Townsend Shares New Track “Heavy Factions”

Devin Townsend has shared a new track called “Heavy Factions” as part of his “Quarantine Project.” This latest song features Wes Hauch (ex-The Faceless, etc.), Liam Wilson (Azusa, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan), and Samus Paulicelli (Decrepit Birth). Townsend commented

“Heres a heavier demo idea. I recorded the drums with Samus during the Empath sessions. Liam plays bass and Wes does a ripping solo. Its all about balance I guess, sometimes chill, sometimes frantic. This would be ‘frantic’ =) I hope you have a good weekend. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones. Dont let the stress get you down, try to write some music or make some art maybe this weekend? …or cookies? They’re good too…“

Devin Townsend Recruits Former Members Of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Decapitated, Etc. For Summer Tour

During a recent interview with MetalSucks, Devin Townsend revealed the artists that will be joining him during his summer touring. They include: guitarist Wes Hauch (ex-The Faceless/Black Crown Initiate), bassist Liam Wilson (Azusa, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan), and drummer Kerim “Krimh” Lechner (Septicflesh, ex-Decapitated).

Townsend said the following:

“The next [touring] thing is Volume 2, which I’m starting with all these festivals — we’re doing Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Bloodstock, Tuska, Wacken, and Hellfest. And that is a different group of people, which is an amazing group of people. I basically did a poll online and said, ‘What do you want to hear?’ from the entire catalogue, Strapping included. For the Volume 2 thing, which I will then bring to North America later, it’s those songs, which is a shit load of Strapping, a shit load of DTP, all of the stuff that people want to hear.

For the summer, I’ve got a band — but it’s a four person band — and at this point it looks like it’ll have Wes Hauch, who played with me on 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. He was in The Faceless and Glass Casket. Such a fuckin’ good guitar player, holy shit. And Krimh playing drums, who was with Septicflesh, Decapitated, and Behemoth.

Super strong player and he can blast with the same volume as he does with the groovy stuff. It looks like it’s gonna be Liam who used to be in Dillinger Escape Plan playing bass. Really great guys, super confident players. Good vibes.

I want that tour — the Volume 2 thing — to be completely different. I want it to be open to the audience and to say, ‘What do you want to hear?’ There’s 25 records full of shit. There’s Strapping, there’s Terria, there’s Ziltoid, there’s DTP, there’s DTB, there’s all this shit. Tell me what you want me to play, and I’ll play that. So, that’s the tour after this one that’s coming up.”

The Dillinger Escape Plan, Extol, Etc. Members Join Forces In Azusa

Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Christer Espevoll (Extol), David Husvik (Extol), and Eleni Zafiriadou (Sea + Air) have joined forces in a new band called Azusa. The group’s debut album “Heavy Yoke” will be released on November 16 and a video for the first single “Interstellar Islands” can be found below:

The band said the following about the upcoming album:

“This album is special for all of us and we’re currently feeling the same excited feelings we got before we debuted any of our previous efforts. We are really fortunate to have been able to create these songs together and to be able to share them with fans of our former and current bands, as well as new fans.

It has been such a relief crafting music without having any outside expectations placed on us. Turning to creative playfulness with a more relaxed and intuitive approach to songwriting, we feel that this collection of songs will hold a unique space in the atmosphere of heavy music.”

“Heavy Yoke” Track Listing:

01. “Interstellar Islands”
02. “Heart of Stone”
03. “Heavy Yoke”
04. “Fine Lines”
