Watch Graham Bonnet Perform Michael Schenker Group’s “Assault Attack” With Vio-lence, Bleeding Through, Armored Saint, Etc. Members

Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head) has shared a quarantine cover of the Michael Schenker Group’s “Assault Attack.” The track also features Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow, ex-Michael Schenker Group), Marta Demmel (Bleeding Through), John Tempesta (The Cult), Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning), and Mike Tempesta (ex-Powerman 5000).

Phil Demmel commented:

“I knew I had wanted to jam on a tune with Johnny but I hadn’t came across which one. I knew he was a huge Cozy Powell fan and we both love Schenker so I proposed the instrumental MSG tune ‘Into the Arena’. He had done something similar to that tune previously with his brother Mike and suggested the banger track ‘Assault Attack’, off a record featuring vocalist Graham Bonnet and a friend of John’s, Ted Mckenna (who had tragically passed away a few years back). He then (kinda) joked about asking Graham to sing on it then reached out to him and made it happen! Marta nailed the keys and vocal harmonies and our good friend and incredible bassist Joey Vera from the legendary Armored Saint not only laid down the bass tracks, but also provided the mix for this. Mike and I both played our Schenker tribute guitars Originally aired for Metal Injections ‘Slay at Home’ fest and video edit by Frank Godla. Thanks to Conrad for getting us Graham’s vocal/vid, and to Joey Vera for the mix!”

Godla commented:

“By keeping the set times between 5 and 15 minutes for each artist, it allows me to not only keep things moving, but mix it up in ways that conventional festivals simply can’t. Every single hour will contain big names and emerging artists right next to each other.

I’m trying to look at the bright side of our current situation, and not only make this an entertaining way to see the artists you love flex their creativity in new ways, but hope this event acts as a place of discovery for every viewer out there.

Finding a band or artist to fall in love with is the mark of a great festival to me, and it’s my honor to share the work of these amazing individuals I curated because I’m passionate about them. I’ve been in touch with all of them every step of the way, and some even managed to throw me a few surprises.

I’m honored and humbled to have all of them part of this, they truly went above and beyond to showcase their craft for the Slay At Home fest, and I can’t wait for the world to see something really special come to life this weekend.”

Money raised from the event will benefit MusiCares and Global Giving.

Jimmy Bain’s (Ex-Dio/Rainbow) Cause Of Death Revealed

Last In Line, and former Dio/Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain recently passed away while he was on Def Leppard‘s Hysteria On The High Seas Cruise. Now, Vinny Appice has revealed that his death was a result of lung cancer. R.I.P.

Appice posted the following on Last In Line’s Facebook:

“Jimmy Bain – friend, brother and band mate passed away on Saturday January 23, 2016.

The Medical Examiner report states the official cause of death was lung cancer.

Jimmy didn’t know he had lung cancer, but he did know he had pneumonia and was receiving treatment for it.
This didn’t stop him or slow him down, we had four rehearsals 4 hours a day, then a flight to Miami for The Def Leppard Rock Cruise. A pre-sail gig and sound check was scheduled for the following day. At the gig Jimmy played great and even sang that night while holding a heavy bass guitar on his back, never complaining or asking for help.

Next day we preceded [sic] to board the cruise ship for a 5 day voyage of which we were scheduled to play Sunday the 4th day.
That gig never happened as Jimmy passed away in his cabin the night before, we were devastated.

Jimmy was a trooper, he gave his all to the band he loved, the music he loved and the fans. He didn’t want to let anyone down.
I don’t know anyone that would have attempted this schedule while being this sick and not feeling well, a trooper.

He was so happy and proud of the new album we recorded, it so unfortunate and sad he didn’t live to see it released.
We were all looking forward to being on the road and playing together again, there was such a magic between us.
Our prayers go out to his family and so many friends and fans who will miss the amazing person that was Jimmy Bain.

Vinny”
