Tim “Ripper” Owens (Ex-Judas Priest) & Ted Kirkpatrick (Tourniquet) Cover Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Gethsemane”

Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex-Judas Priest), Ted Kirkpatrick (Tourniquet), and Bruno Sa (Geoff Tate) have teamed up for a cover of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Gethsemane” from “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Kirkpatrick commented:

“‘Gethsemane’ has been a favorite of mine from the very first time I heard it in the early ’70s. I’ve wanted to cover it for years — and Tim was the first person that came to mind who I knew could truly do it justice. So with the additional talents of Bruno Sa, who layed down the awesome keys and piano, and Aaron Pace (mixing/mastering), here it is — on the 50-year anniversary of its release in 1970. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”

Former Judas Priest Members Join Forces In KK’s Priest

Former Judas Priest members K.K. Downing (guitar), Tim “Ripper” Owens (vocals), and Les Binks (drums) have launched a new band called KK’s Priest. The group, which also features bassist Tony Newton (Voodoo Six) and guitarist A.J. Mills (Hostile), plan to perform Judas Priest tracks as well as new songs. They are currently working on their debut album, which is expected to be released later this year. Downing commented:

“Forging ahead with KK’s Priest was not only inevitable, but was essential for me to perform and deliver everything that is expected from me and KK’s Priest. Due to the massive demand and overwhelming support from fans around the world, I feel this is where I belong, and a set combining the true, classic songs and sound of Priest, together with great, newly forged metal tracks, is what fans can expect when KK’s Priest is taking to stages.”

Tim “Ripper” Owens Says He Would Like To Record A Cover Of Queen’s “Under Pressure” With Rob Halford

During a recent appearance on the “Ouch, You’re On My Hair” podcast, ex-Judas Priest vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens said he would like to collaborate with the band’s longstanding frontman Rob Halford. Specifically, Owens said he would “love to” record a cover of Queen’s “Under Pressure” with Halford.

Owens said the following when asked about a possible collaboration:

“We’ve never talked about it, which would be pretty awesome. Rob and I are friends, and it’s great… I would love to do something with Rob, and I’ve always thought about it, and I think the fans would love it. Even if we do a song or two.

Somebody laughed when I said this, but for the last 15 years, I’ve always said, man, I would love to do the song ‘Under Pressure’ with Rob. It would be a great over. And it’s funny, ’cause [that song features] two of my favorite singers, Freddie [Mercury] and especially David Bowie — I absolutely love David Bowie — and for Rob and I to do it, I think it would be an amazing thing.

I think it would be awesome to work with Rob. And I’m still great friends with the Priest camp and great friends with Rob. So it would be pretty awesome.”

Former Judas Priest Members To Perform The Band’s Music At Wolverhampton, UK Show

Former Judas Priest members K.K. Downing, Les Binks, and Tim “Ripper” Owens will be taking the stage for “a full-length set of Priest classics” at K.K.’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, UK on November 3. The show will find the trio joined by David Ellefson (Megadeth) and Thom Hazaert. Ellefson’s “Sleeping Giants” band and Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden) will open.

Downing commented:

“I am very pleased to have been asked to perform a unique and special concert with Megadeth’s David Ellefson to celebrate the release of his new book, ‘More Life With Deth’. The concert will also bring about the opportunity to play again with some very dear and talented metal legends from the past. The combination of these icons will for sure enable us to deliver up one of the most exciting concerts this year, so much so that it would not be out of place to call this the ultimate ass-kicking ‘MegaPriest’ fest, and is one that is not to be missed.”

Ellefson added:

“I speak very candidly in my new book ‘More Life with Deth’ about the significance Judas Priest played in my early musical trajectory, specifically the ‘Unleashed In The East’ live album with its picture-perfect image of what heavy metal should look and sound like. To me, that album, along with its powerful cover image, captured the excitement I felt for a new era of music, one that would transition me from my roots in American hard rock over to that of British heavy metal.

Over the years, K.K. and I became fast friends while we toured together with Priest and Megadeth, and I’m beyond thrilled to perform together onstage with him and his former Priest bandmates, as we light up the Steel Mill together for a night of molten metal classics!

Thom and I have been touring all summer across the USA supporting the new book and our ‘Sleeping Giants’ release. Plus Ripper and I have shared stages all around the world in the last decade or so, and now to add Les Binks in the mix, who to my generation was the ultimate metal double-bass drummer, this has become the ultimate ‘metal’ family reunion!”

It’s worth noting that there will also be a pre-show VIP event featuring a “More Life With Deth” book signing and a Q&A session with Ellefson, Downing and Hazaert, moderated by Mark Eglinton.

The Three Tremors (Ex-Judas Priest, Etc.) To Release “The Solo Versions” 3-Disc Set

The Three Tremors, the band featuring Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex-Judas Priest/Iced Earth, etc.), Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin (Jag Panzer), and Sean “The Hell Destroyer” Peck (Cage, etc.), will be releasing a 3-disc set called “The Three Tremors – The Solo Versions” on November 15. The effort will come with three versions of the group’s debut album, including one with only Owens on vocals, one with only Conklin on vocals, and one with only Peck on vocals. The set will also include live versions of “Invaders From The Sky,” “When the Last Scream Fades, and “The Three Tremors,” as well as new artwork, packaging, and photos.

Peck said the following:

“We each sang and recorded the entire album and so much great material got left on the cutting room floor because of how we pieced together the original release. I felt we had a really cool product that we could put together and I started working with Dave Garcia to mix them and assemble them. We contacted the artist and had him paint some incredible cover art to match the ferocity of the recordings.”

Owens also commented:

“Everyone each had their own amazing version of the album and I was hoping we would find a way to get them released and now here they are.”

Conklin added:

“This is a really cool, unique product that as a metal fan myself would want to have. The different approach we each took to the songs makes each version really fresh and interesting. Each guy really did a great job and it is definitely a trip the metal fan is going to enjoy.”

The Three Tremors (Ex-Judas Priest, Etc.) Premiere “Fly Or Die” Music Video

The Three Tremors, the band featuring Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex-Judas Priest/Iced Earth, etc.), Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin (Jag Panzer), and Sean “The Hell Destroyer” Peck (Cage, etc.), have premiered a new video for their song “Fly Or Die.” This track is from the group’s debut self-titled album.

Peck said the following:

“This video was great to shoot on a bunch of levels. First, I am a big war buff and being in the cockpit of that Mustang was incredible. To think all those brave warriors did battle in those tight, cramped cockpits gives you an entirely new perspective on just how insane it must have been. Next, I think the metal godz were smiling on us that day as it was the eye of the storm, and the only clear day without heavy rain for two weeks straight. The mountains surrounding San Diego were covered in snow and the air was crisp. It was a glorious day to do this tribute to such an important event in American history. After playing this song live now for over 30-plus shows, a lot of fans have been calling it the ‘Aces High’ of the modern age, which, of course, is the ultimate heavy metal compliment.”

Conklin added:

“Best ‘hair day’ of my life!! Blast being a part of the past! Always the best time of my life filming with my metal brothers!”

Owens also commented:

“This is another great song to play live. The place always fires off once this song gets going.”

The Three Tremors (Ex-Judas Priest, Etc.) Premiere “Bullets For The Damned” Music Video

The Three Tremors, the band featuring Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex-Judas Priest/Iced Earth, etc.), Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin (Jag Panzer), and Sean “The Hell Destroyer” Peck (Cage, etc.), have premiered a new video for their song “Bullets For The Damned.” This track is from the group’s debut self-titled album, which is available now. Owens told Billboard the following:

“It was all green screen stuff. I felt like Arnold Schwarzenegger for a second. It’s kind of a throwback, like the whole CD is — it comes straight at ya, a lot of stuff going on and really a power punch of everything. That’s what this [group] is — the video’s over the top, the music is over the top, everything. That’s something that’s been gone for a while, so we’re trying to bring it back.”
