Michael Schenker Group Premiere New Song “A King Has Gone”

The Michael Schenker Group have premiered a new song titled “A King Has Gone.” This track is from the band’s new album “Universal,” which will be released on May 27.

The following was said about the song:

“The rock anthem “A King Has Gone”, taken from MSG’s new album “Universal”, and its intro “Calling Baal”, also available on “Universal”, both have a special significance: The track, sung by Helloween frontman Michael Kiske, is a tribute to the immortal Ronnie James Dio, in particular to his performance on the 1976 hard rock classic “Rainbow Rising”. For this reason, Michael Schenker has brought together an original Rainbow rhythm section consisting of Bobby Rondinelli and Bob Daisley.

Michael Schenker additionally enlisted keyboardist Tony Carey, who also played on “Rainbow Rising”, for the terrific Moog synth intro “Calling Ball” – a direct reference to the iconic intro of the 1976 album opener “Tarot Woman”. The impressive result “Calling Baal”/”A King Has Gone” is already considered to be one of the most important and successful songs in Schenker’s career to date, both musically and lyrically, and can be enjoyed in its entirety on MSG’s new studio album “Universal”!

Michael Schenker Premieres New Video For His Version Of Scorpions’ “In Search Of The Peace Of Mind”

Michael Schenker has premiered a new video for his version of Scorpions’ “In Search Of The Peace Of Mind.” This track is from the Michael Schenker Group’s new album “Immortal,” which was released today (January 29).

Schenker commented:

“‘In Search Of The Peace Of Mind’ had to be my 50th-anniversary celebration song. It means so much to me, because it was my very first musical composition I wrote at the age of 15. And it was also the first song I had ever put on a record, also at the age of 15. In addition, this song from the original ‘Lonesome Crow’ Scorpions album, the very first album the Scorpions had ever recorded, has a solo on it that that was so perfect I would never change a note in 1000 years. I have no idea where it came from, alongside the other solos on ‘Lonesome Crow’, where you can hear that I am an amateur, young and developing as a kid. But this lead break came from somewhere else. I have no idea how it happened.

I wanted to re-record this song for ‘Immortal’, making it an epic, and put an additional long solo on the end of the song, which turned out so amazing. The sound describes my 50-year journey expressed on lead guitar. Again, it ended up so amazing, like an inner conversation throughout my life — questions and answers; making choices expressed on lead guitar.

With Gary Barden, Ronnie Romero, Robin McAuley and Doogie White making a contribution to my 50th anniversary, it turned out complete. Not to forget the amazing contribution of Simon Phillips on drums, Barry Sparks on bass, as well as Steve Mann on keyboards. Fantastic.

This is the fourth single for ‘Immortal’ — 50th anniversary of Michael Schenker.”

Michael Schenker Group Premiere “Sail The Darkness” Lyric Video

The Michael Schenker Group have premiered a lyric video for their new song “Sail The Darkness.” This track is from the band’s new album “Immortal,” which will be released on January 29. Vocalist Ronnie Romero commented:

“Since I listened the demo, I got the feeling that this would become in a great song, because it sounds like the great old hard rock songs and the riff is just Michael Schenker at his best. And to me, it’s even more special because I had the chance to write the lyrics. I’m pretty sure the fans gonna love this one.”

Michael Schenker Group Premiere “After The Rain” Video

The Michael Schenker Group have premiered a new video for their new song “After The Rain.” This track is from the band’s new album “Immortal,” which will be released on January 29.

Schenker commented:

“The song ‘After The Rain’ was coming out of the blue. A power ballad I have never done before. Michael Voss wrote some lyrics and vocal melodies, after I had put down my musically composition on backing track for this song. The next morning, Michael Voss played me what he had sang to it, and I said, ‘This is so beautiful, only you can sing this song.’ And it turned out amazing.”

Michael Voss added:

“This is an outstanding mellow-tuned power ballad with some unique Michael Schenker clean picking guitar style. When I first listened to Michael’s rough sketches, I was singing a kinda ‘lala’ melody that automatically drove me into the line, ‘Say have you been lonely.’ From there, I felt it must deal about a sad loss and a departure of a big love… but there will be sun and light… after the rain.”
