Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Etc.) Scores New Film “Red 48”

Ben Weinman (Suicidal Tendencies, The Dillinger Escape Plan) has been recruited to score a new film titled “Red 48.” That movie stars Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, and Michael Jai White and The Hollywood Reporter shared the following description of it:

“Gibson will play Kyle Snowden, a troubled former Marine turned child protective service officer who must save an immigrant child from a dangerous criminal who has trapped them and other hostages inside a convenience store. Adding more power to the keg: The store is owned by the Snowden’s stepfather, Sam Safty, being played by Malkovich. White plays Sparks, the Safty’s no-nonsense bodyguard and confidant.”

“We got three of New Jersey’s most talented hoagies plus a Connecticut Hatebreed in King Danzig’s Court to assemble to form the punk supergroup you had no idea you needed. This is Max Weinberg, as in Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band/Late Night with Conan O’Brien-fame Max Weinberg playing a goddamn Misfits cover. What an absolute dream.

Godla commented:

“By keeping the set times between 5 and 15 minutes for each artist, it allows me to not only keep things moving, but mix it up in ways that conventional festivals simply can’t. Every single hour will contain big names and emerging artists right next to each other.

I’m trying to look at the bright side of our current situation, and not only make this an entertaining way to see the artists you love flex their creativity in new ways, but hope this event acts as a place of discovery for every viewer out there.

Finding a band or artist to fall in love with is the mark of a great festival to me, and it’s my honor to share the work of these amazing individuals I curated because I’m passionate about them. I’ve been in touch with all of them every step of the way, and some even managed to throw me a few surprises.

I’m honored and humbled to have all of them part of this, they truly went above and beyond to showcase their craft for the Slay At Home fest, and I can’t wait for the world to see something really special come to life this weekend.”

Money raised from the event will benefit MusiCares and Global Giving.

Ben Weinman Reflects On The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Final Show Two Years Later

Yesterday (December 29), marked the second anniversary of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s final show at Terminal 5 in New York, NY. Guitarist Ben Weinman recently reflected on that via Instagram:

View this post on Instagram

Two years ago today @dillingerescapeplan played our last shows after 20 years of nonstop creation and grind. What a ride. I may not speak often with all of the people who shared this experience with me, and some were sadly missing on that final day, but we will always share something that will never quite be replicated. The musical climate has changed. I'm not going to say for better or worst because I will just be accused of being either old and removed or pandering to the new guard. But the fact is that we made music during a time when bands were mythology. Innovation came from limitations and a musician could not be influential by simply playing cover songs or scales from the comfort of their bedroom. They did it by making a global cultural impact by how they performed and the music they created. So much so that it was impossible to ignore. The word content had a different meaning. To us, it was the physical detail and meaning of our art. Not data to fill someone else's multi-billion-dollar website or mobile app. I embrace evolution and prefer to get on the arc rather than sink with the dinosaurs, but feel really lucky and grateful to have experienced what I did with the people I did it with. #dillingerescapeplan #thedillingerescapeplan #punkrock #hardcore

Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan) Streams Solo Track “It Is Nothing”

Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.) is now streaming his solo song “It Is Nothing” via YouTube. The track was previously only available through his Patreon.

Weinman commented:

“‘It Is Nothing,’ was the first solo track released through my Patreon. Until now, this song was only available to those who signed up for one of the tiers offered through the site. Since then I have released 2 other songs and will continue to release my music exclusively to my Patreon supporters.

This Patreon was created to motivate me to continue to make stuff despite my recent retirement from being a full-time musician. All proceeds will go towards taking care of the animals at a rescue my wife, and I run out of our home.

If you would like to sign up, we would be forever grateful, and so would our little friends. You can do so by going here:

This song goes out to all the hunters, hunting for life who can’t spend any money but are still selling rice. Maybe living for the weekends, but those days never come? You’ll say on your deathbed that it was all dumb. This song is a meditation and features the beautiful Violin work of Earl Maneein. Use it to free yourself of your chains.

Thank you to the moon and back Oleg Rooz for creating these kick-ass visuals to my music. (http://olegrooz.com)

Love always
