Nitesoil Premiere New Song “Odio” Featuring Jessica Pimentel (Alekhine’s Gun)

Nitesoil, the project launched by Frank Godla (Meek Is Murder, Enabler) and Nick Emde (Contracult Collective, White Widows Pact), have premiered a new song titled “Odio.” This track features Jessica Pimentel (Alekhine’s Gun) and it will appear on the band’s new EP “Abusement Park,” which is set to be released on November 6. That effort can be pre-ordered HERE with 100% of the proceeds set to go towards the Cancer Research Institute.

Pimentel commented:

“I once heard a story of a young little girl who used to sneak into her newborn little brother’s room at night and tearfully would whisper to him him, ‘Can you please tell me what God looks like? I’m starting to forget.’ That story haunted me for years, it reminds me of that feeling when you have an amazing dream and as the minutes slip by it becomes more and more of an illusion and turns to smoke.

It had me thinking about the Tibetan book of the Dead and how in the bardo between this life and your next you are forced to face terrifying challenges but depending on the strength of your will you can see monsters and demons or you can see Angels and love all pushing and pulling you in different directions. The key is to remember that what your life is to be from there depends on your own will to decide because you the creator of your universe and that those angels and demons are one and the same. Illusions to trick you to come back and be reborn.”

Alekhine’s Gun Premiere New Song “Ngepar Chiwa”

Alekhine’s Gun, the band featuring “Orange Is The New Black” actress Jessica Pimentel, have premiered a new song titled “Ngepar Chiwa.” This track will appear on the group’s upcoming EP “Year Of The Lazerus.”

The group told Revolver the following:

“Death is the one common denominator that pervades all existence. As most of us get bogged down with all the worldly goals, desires and fears of human life, how often do we sit and contemplate our own Death? In Tibetan Buddhism we focus, meditate on and practice our own death on a daily basis. Nothing in this world is yours. Even your own body will betray you. At the moment of death you will lose everything. This moment can come at any time. Constantly reminding yourself of your impermanence causes a radical shift in one’s mind stream freeing you from attachments, hatred, greed and fear which cause daily suffering and helps you reevaluate what is truly important. By becoming friends with death we are able to live a more perfect life. By eliminating the fear of the unknown we can have a peaceful death, which not only benefits ourselves by helping us to easily reach our next plane of existence properly but helps ease the minds and suffering that we cause by our departure from those who love us.”

The Black Dahlia Murder, Revocation, Etc. Members To Guest On New Nitesoil EP

Nitesoil, the project launched by Frank Godla (Meek Is Murder, Enabler) and Nick Emde (Contracult Collective, White Widows Pact), will be releasing their debut EP “Abusement Park” on November 6. The effort can be pre-ordered HERE and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Cancer Research Institute.

“Abusement Park” Track Listing:

01. “Odio” (feat. Jessica Pimentel of Brujeria/Alekhine’s Gun)
02. “The Extinction Gene” (feat. Dave Davidson of Revocation/Gargoyl)
03. “Burn Me Down” (feat. Aaron Heinold of Hivesmasher)
04. “The Abusement Park” (feat. Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder)
05. “Mother Of Lust” (feat. Gost)
06. “D.S.I.T.S.” (feat. Doug Moore of Pyrrhon)

Godla commented:

“We started this band as a joke we thought no one would hear; a folder of sick riffs from Nick titled “Slammy Sosa”. Once I spent weeks rearranging and tracking grooves, black mailing some killer death metal vocalists to come over to my house and participate, and kidnapping one of the sickest engineers in the game to mix and master this shit in order to be released…we’re still a joke. But at least it sounds legit, and it’s all for charity you chumps!”

The first single, “Burn Me Down” (feat. Aaron Heinold), can be found below:

Jessica Pimentel (Alekhine’s Gun) & Tomas Haake (Meshuggah) Working On New Project

“Orange Is The New Black” actress and Alekhine’s Gun frontwoman Jessica Pimentel has revealed that she is working on new music with her fiancé, Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake. The couple are planning to release the material anonymously through Bandcamp.

Pimentel said the following on the “Behind The Vinyl” podcast after being asked if her and Haake would ever work on music together:

“That’s a very funny thing. [Laughs] We have been wanting to jam for a long time. It’s, like, you know the ‘meeting your heroes’ situation? We are both, like, ‘God, I love the way you play. It sounds really great.’ ‘Oh, I love the way… You wanna jam?’ ‘Yeah. Yeah.’ ‘Eh, tomorrow.’ [Laughs]”

She continued:

“It’s kind of just been the two of us for the last two months here, so we both really need to play, and so we’re gonna do some of that. We also have the honor and luxury of having some nice, new Korg keyboards here, so maybe what we jam out might not be metal at all. He’s actually picking up the wires for that right now — all the cables that we need — and we’ll see what comes out. We already have our anonymous band name to release stuff on Bandcamp. We’re not gonna tell you what it is, you’re not gonna know what it is, but it will be out there.”

Alekhine’s Gun Premiere New Song “21”

Alekhine’s Gun, the band featuring “Orange Is The New Black” actress Jessica Pimentel, have premiered a new song titled “21.” This track will appear on the group’s upcoming EP “Year Of The Lazerus.” Pimentel commented:

“Inspired by the traditional Tibetan Buddhist prayer ‘Praises To The Twenty-One Taras,’ ’21’ is a musical offering and an act of paying homage to the primordial power within by delving deeply into calling upon the forces of fierce compassion and the wrathful aspect of love and wisdom needed in times of fear and uncertainty in order to seek refuge and gain enlightenment. Reaching beyond time and space, the bond between us and the true nature of reality is unbreakable, unstoppable and eternal.”

“By keeping the set times between 5 and 15 minutes for each artist, it allows me to not only keep things moving, but mix it up in ways that conventional festivals simply can’t. Every single hour will contain big names and emerging artists right next to each other.

I’m trying to look at the bright side of our current situation, and not only make this an entertaining way to see the artists you love flex their creativity in new ways, but hope this event acts as a place of discovery for every viewer out there.

Finding a band or artist to fall in love with is the mark of a great festival to me, and it’s my honor to share the work of these amazing individuals I curated because I’m passionate about them. I’ve been in touch with all of them every step of the way, and some even managed to throw me a few surprises.

I’m honored and humbled to have all of them part of this, they truly went above and beyond to showcase their craft for the Slay At Home fest, and I can’t wait for the world to see something really special come to life this weekend.”

Money raised from the event will benefit MusiCares and Global Giving.

The experience of a live concert is irreplaceable, but my aim with Slay At Home is to provide every person in the world an experience they haven’t seen yet, right from their own devices.
