Watch Graham Bonnet Perform Michael Schenker Group’s “Assault Attack” With Vio-lence, Bleeding Through, Armored Saint, Etc. Members

Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head) has shared a quarantine cover of the Michael Schenker Group’s “Assault Attack.” The track also features Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow, ex-Michael Schenker Group), Marta Demmel (Bleeding Through), John Tempesta (The Cult), Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning), and Mike Tempesta (ex-Powerman 5000).

Phil Demmel commented:

“I knew I had wanted to jam on a tune with Johnny but I hadn’t came across which one. I knew he was a huge Cozy Powell fan and we both love Schenker so I proposed the instrumental MSG tune ‘Into the Arena’. He had done something similar to that tune previously with his brother Mike and suggested the banger track ‘Assault Attack’, off a record featuring vocalist Graham Bonnet and a friend of John’s, Ted Mckenna (who had tragically passed away a few years back). He then (kinda) joked about asking Graham to sing on it then reached out to him and made it happen! Marta nailed the keys and vocal harmonies and our good friend and incredible bassist Joey Vera from the legendary Armored Saint not only laid down the bass tracks, but also provided the mix for this. Mike and I both played our Schenker tribute guitars Originally aired for Metal Injections ‘Slay at Home’ fest and video edit by Frank Godla. Thanks to Conrad for getting us Graham’s vocal/vid, and to Joey Vera for the mix!”

Godla commented:

“By keeping the set times between 5 and 15 minutes for each artist, it allows me to not only keep things moving, but mix it up in ways that conventional festivals simply can’t. Every single hour will contain big names and emerging artists right next to each other.

I’m trying to look at the bright side of our current situation, and not only make this an entertaining way to see the artists you love flex their creativity in new ways, but hope this event acts as a place of discovery for every viewer out there.

Finding a band or artist to fall in love with is the mark of a great festival to me, and it’s my honor to share the work of these amazing individuals I curated because I’m passionate about them. I’ve been in touch with all of them every step of the way, and some even managed to throw me a few surprises.

I’m honored and humbled to have all of them part of this, they truly went above and beyond to showcase their craft for the Slay At Home fest, and I can’t wait for the world to see something really special come to life this weekend.”

Money raised from the event will benefit MusiCares and Global Giving.

Fates Warning To Be Rejoined By Original Bassist Joe Dibiase For Three Shows

Fates Warning bassist Joey Vera will be missing three shows due to his commitments to Armored Saint. During his absence, original Fates Warning bassist Joe DiBiase will be filling in. Here’s the dates DiBiase will perform at:

03/13 Detroit, MI – Diesel
03/14 Chicago, IL – Concord
03/15 Milwaukee, WI – The Rave

Vera commented:

“Dear friends, Just a quick heads up with something regarding the upcoming Fates Warning tour. Over a year ago I had committed to playing a gig with Armored Saint in Athens, Greece this March 15. I wish to honor that commitment but that means that I’ll sadly have to miss a couple of gigs with Fates in order to do it. So i will be not playing on the Detroit, Chicago and Milwaukee shows. (Some of my favorite cities by the way!).

Luckily for us, and YOU, my brother and OG Fates Warning bassist Joe DiBiase will be stepping up once again for these three gigs. So this will be amazing!

I will resume in Minneapolis with Fates.

I am currently practicing over 37 songs for the upcoming gigs with Motor Sister, Armored Saint and Fates Warning. My head is spinning out. But, not to pity me. This is the bed I’ve made for myself this time.

I’m very sorry I’ll be missing these three gigs but I know you’ll be in good hands. i look forward to seeing all of you out there very soon!”
