Cave In Premiere “Reckoning” Music Video

Cave In have premiered a new video for their new song “Reckoning.” This track is from the band’s new album “Heavy Pendulum,” which will be released on May 20.

Adam McGrath commented:

“‘Reckoning‘ started as a demo I sent to the band for consideration while mapping out the tracklist for ‘Heavy Pendulum‘. It was inspired by the idea of adding a song to the acoustic/electric live sets Steve and I had been performing on and off for the last 20 years. A fresh song with that set-up (acoustic/electric guitar) seemed exciting to pursue. Somewhere between Led Zeppelin’s ‘Battle of Evermore’ and Mad Season’s ‘Long Gone Day’ is the birth of ‘Reckoning,’ a song about digesting huge loss and forging paths into unknown futures.”

On another note, the group also have the following dates booked:

05/15 Austin, TX – Oblivion Access Festival

Cave In Premiere “Blood Spiller” Music Video

Cave In have premiered a new video for their new song “Blood Spiller.” This track is from the band’s new album “Heavy Pendulum,” which will be released on May 20. Stephen Brodsky commented:

“If you laid out the timeline for 2020 like a recipe, it might look something like this: global pandemic + lockdowns + worldwide protests over the wrongful death of George Floyd + election year = cocktail for end times. Somewhere in that concoction, we found ingredients for a new Cave In album. ‘Blood Spiller‘ is the sound of us swallowing it, getting ripped on the horrors within, and coming down to reflect on it through song.”

Cave In Premiere “Blinded By A Blaze” Music Video

Cave In have premiered a new video for their new song “Blinded By A Blaze.” This track is from the band’s new album “Heavy Pendulum,” which will be released on May 20. Stephen Brodsky commented:

“I had the idea for ‘Blinded By A Blaze‘ during the ‘Final Transmission‘ days, but it really came to life for ‘Heavy Pendulum‘. There were 5 or 6 songs in the initial batch of demos that I sent to the band at the beginning of the writing process, but ‘Blinded‘ was the one that created a call to action – it’s basically what sold JR, Adam & Nate on writing a new Cave In album. Lyrically, it’s a sonic photograph of a strange magical moment that I had while driving along the Pacific Coast Highway during the golden hour, and the feeling of looking back on it years later – something everyone should try to experience at least once in their lifetime.”

“Cave In’s been around for over 25 years now, and the time has come for an album that scales all of our creative peaks. Talk about a wild and weird ride! And here we are with ‘Heavy Pendulum‘ – it certainly feels like a remarkable event, given the erratic trajectory of our band. ‘New Reality‘ was always the lead-off track – that was pretty obvious during the writing process. New line-up, new label, new album… a new reality indeed, and it all adds up to a new lease on life for Cave In.”

06. Amenra – “Flyin’ Shoes”
07. Marissa Nadler – “Sad Cinderella”
08. Cave In – “At My Window”
09. Marissa Nadler – “None But The Rain”

Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky commented:

“In the winter of 2010, I did a solo tour with Scott Kelly of Neurosis and Bob Wayne. It was the three of us and Ansgar Glade traveling in Bob‘s ‘green machine’ van around the UK and Ireland. At every show, Scott played the song ‘Caroline’ and each time I heard it, I found myself enraptured. This was my introduction to Townes Van Zandt. Pretty cool that ten years later, Ansgar has given me and Cave In this great opportunity to show our love for TVZ’s music.”

Amenra’s Lennart Bossu continued:

“Being Belgians, the very American folk and country of Townes Van Zandt is not exactly the music we grew up listening to, but upon discovering his songs in our early twenties, they immediately struck a chord with us. Even people who do not understand the lyrics can probably tell that they are listening to someone who has lived and suffered, and, oddly enough, at the same time find deep comfort in his soothing voice.

It is the kind of comfort that often defines great music or art in general, and it made the prospect of trying our own hand at a few of his songs no less daunting. Nonetheless, when we were asked to be part of this collection of Townes Van Zandt cover songs, we felt excited and compelled to be part of it, as, in a way, it offered us a chance to do something in return for the great songs he has given us, and also be a part of a series of albums that are almost exclusively comprised of artists we deeply respect.”

Marissa Nadler added:

“I’ve been a fan of Townes Van Zandt’s music for nearly as long as I’ve been writing songs. When I was starting out, a friend introduced me to Townes’s music, and I pretty much instantly fell in love with both the rawness of his songs as well as the intense sense of longing expressed within them. His lyrics are haunting and evocative and have inspired me endlessly. These melodies will linger with you, year after year, and hopefully keep you company along the way.”
