Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta Wants To Team Up With Other Singers To Record New Vocals Over The Instrumentals On Metallica And Lou Reed’s “Lulu”

Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) says he wants to team up with Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row), Robb Flynn (Machine Head), and Kirk Windstein (Crowbar) to record new vocals over the instrumentals on Metallica and Lou Reed’s collaborative album “Lulu.” He even offered to give the band a $50,000 donation for their “All Within My Hands” Foundation to make his vision a reality:

Metallica Pay Tribute To Late “Lulu” Co-Producer Hal Willner

Hal Willner, who co-produced Metallica and Lou Reed’s collaborative album “Lulu,” has sadly passed away after exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. He was 64-years-old.

Metallica commented:

“The entire Metallica family was shocked and saddened to hear of producer, writer, and composer Hal Willner’s passing earlier today. He was a truly inspirational collaborator, someone who through his unique combination of musical knowledge and warm personality, invigorated every project he touched, including co-producing our very own collaboration with Lou Reed, 2011’s ‘Lulu’; Hal expertly helped to guide us all to a project we loved, and remain fiercely proud of, to this day.

His breadth and scope within the world of music was incredible. From being the sketch music producer of ‘Saturday Night Live’ since 1981 to producing albums for Lou, Marianne Faithfull, William S. Burroughs and Laurie Anderson, Hal’s love and appreciation of all styles of cutting-edge music and art made him a man in high demand.”

Drummer Lars Ulrich added:

“I will always treasure the time I spent with Hal in those most inspiring and collaborative environments. He was such a warm, open, and communicative person, and as Lou’s right-hand man, he was absolutely essential in pushing ‘Lulu’ forward. I’ll never forget him, and I know I speak for the entire METALLICA family when I say he will be greatly missed.”

Alice Cooper Pays Tribute To Late “Welcome To My Nightmare” Tour Drummer Whitey Glan

Whitey Glan, who served as a session drummer for Lou Reed and Alice Cooper, has passed away at the age of 71, after being diagnosed with lung cancer in September. Cooper penned the following tribute for him:

“I picked Whitey Glan as the drummer for my ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’ tour because he was simply the best drummer around, not knowing he could drink me under a table. He was just a great guy, everybody who’s worked with him considered him one of their best friends. He was one of rock’s premier drummers, but in my opinion, he was very underrated and underpublicized — he was certainly a drummer’s drummer! Canada is less one world class musician… rest in peace, Whitey.”

Dick Wagner Dead At 71

Dick Wagner, known for his work with Alice Cooper and Lou Reed, has passed away. According to the Detroit Free Press, Wagner died of respiratory failure, while in intensive care.

Alice Cooper wrote the following about Wagner’s passing:

“Even though we know it’s inevitable, we never expect to suddenly lose close friends and collaborators. Dick Wagner and I shared as many laughs as we did hit records. He was one of a kind. He is irreplaceable. His brand of playing and writing is not seen anymore, and there are very few people that I enjoyed working with as much as I enjoyed working with Dick Wagner. A lot of my radio success in my solo career had to do with my relationship with Dick Wagner. Not just on stage, but in the studio and writing. Some of my biggest singles were ballads what I wrote with Dick Wagner. Most of “Welcome To My Nightmare” was written with Dick. There was just a magic in the way we wrote together. He was always able to find exactly the right chord to match perfectly with what I was doing. I think that we always think our friends will be around as long as we are, so to hear of Dick’s passing comes as a sudden shock and an enormous loss for me, Rock N Roll and to his family.”
