Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) have revealed the artists that will be joining them at the third annual “Above Ground” benefit concert. The event will take place at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA on December 20 and the duo will be performing the Sex Pistols’ “Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols” and Lou Reed‘s “Transformer“ in full with Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Billy Idol, Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Franky Perez (ex-Deadland Ritual, ex-Apocalyptica), and Etty Lau Farrell. Proceeds from the show will go towards MusiCares.

Geezer Butler Says Deadland Ritual Might Not Continue

During a recent interview with Bass Magazine, Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) revealed that his Deadland Ritual project with Matt Sorum (ex-Guns N’ Roses, etc.), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol, etc.), and Franky Perez (ex-Scars On Broadway, etc.) may not continue. He said the following:

“We had about 13 or 14 songs written, and we were about to go into the studio when the pandemic came along. And now Steve won’t leave his house [laughs], and so I think the singer [Franky Perez] is doing something else, and Matt is doing something also.”

Butler went on to say that the group had “some really good stuff” and that he “might rescue” it for a future solo album.

The show will launch this year’s “Sound And Vision Awards,” which will honor Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and visual artist Shepard Fairey. In addition to Sorum, the event will also feature performances from Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Dave Kushner (ex-Velvet Revolver), John 5 (Rob Zombie, etc.), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), and producer Andrew Watt (Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne).
