Benante said the following about the album:

“Back in February of last year with COVID and all the other B.S. that was going on, I was glued to the 24-hour news cycle on the TV and my phone, and I started to get really depressed. My girlfriend said I needed to turn off the news and suggested I do something creative, whether it was art or drumming or writing new songs, and she was right.”

“I knew a lot of my musician friends were going through the same thing I had been, so I started asking them if they wanted to get involved, play some songs with me, maybe make a video – that’s how it all started.”

“This isn’t a solo album. This is a record of my favorite songs done with some of my friends during a very dark time. We found a shining light and this is the result of that light. I was really happy that my musician friends came on board and helped make this record what it is. I appreciate all of them, and they all did such a fantastic job. Despite all of the darkness we’ve experienced this past year, there are ‘silver linings,’ that’s why I chose that title for the album.”

The record’s first single, Benante’s “Run-DMC Medley” with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax), and Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies), can be found below:

DMC And The Hellraisers Premiere “Monster” Music Video

DMC And The Hellraisers, the new project featuring Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Veronica Bellino (Life Of Agony), etc., have premiered a new video for their new song “Monster.” Bellino commented:

“The song has a lot of potential meanings. It could be an everyday monster like the evil people we sometimes see on the news, or maybe it’s the monster we create in our own heads. To us as a band, it represents what we call the ‘mental health monster,’ which lies behind the fake smile we wear to cover those dark realities. That is represented in the video by the weird, creepy smile of the man’s mask. Behind that, he is disturbed, and he’s in the house isolated and freaking out as the mental health monster eats him alive. The line ‘You better leave the light on’ is our way of saying, a breakthrough is possible if you let a little positivity shine through the darkness.”

Dinosaur Pile-Up Premiere Video For Cover Of Run-DMC’s “It’s Tricky”

Dinosaur Pile-Up have premiered a new video for their cover of Run-DMC‘s “It’s Tricky.“ You can check that out below:

Matt Bigland commented:

“We basically wanted a chance to make our own Beastie Boys/Busta Rhymes esque video, but for a Run DMC song. So when Amazon Music kindly agreed to put a video into production we were like OK LET’S GOOOO!!

‘It’s Tricky‘ is such a fun song, so we wanted to make sure the video wasn’t taking itself too seriously and that the end result would be a party. We also wanted to include us getting abducted by aliens (because why not), us dressed up AS THE ACTUAL ALIENS ABDUCTING OURSELVES because I’m into that ‘same person playing both roles’ thing, a scene that kind of reminded us of Foo Fighter’s Monkey Wrench video (because it’s cool as hell) and as much 90’s sci fi special effects as we were allowed to include because we were brought up on that sh*t.

I put this to director Ralph Fuller (GrainFreeze) and basically said ‘hey do you wanna have a shit load of fun making a video about aliens’ and he was instantly sold. However – when we turned up to shoot on the day, and we found ourselves stood in a legit movie studio with seemingly countless people running around with 40foot green screens and back drops of the Grand Canyon and sh*t.

I realised that it had all gotten horrendously out of hand, and that our little idea of “let’s make a fun/stupid Beastie Boys music video about us getting abducted by aliens” had turned into a legit Busta Rhymes music video that was actually gonna look really really sick.

I then instinctively ate a chimichanga that was way too hot for me, donned a news anchor suit with the actual universe printed on it, and went on to deliver a performance many critics are describing as ‘kind of ok in a Ted Danson kind of way’. All in all, it was a huge success.”

“When you ask a verified LEGEND if he’ll join you in your mission to sonically encourage conversation and they oblige, that is mind blowing in and of itself; but then when that legend drops a legendary verse for a remix discussing said mission- that’s some on some whole other “pinch me I must be dreaming” shit. That legend is the one and only @kingdmc of @rundmc and that remix (Animal) is out now…”

Megadeth’s David Ellefson Premieres “Sleeping Giants” Video

Megadeth’s David Ellefson has premiered a new video for “Sleeping Giants.“ The song, which features Ellefson’s business partner Thom Hazaert, MC Daryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Steve Conley (Flotsam And Jetsam), Ethan Brosh, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), and Ilias Papadakis (Memorain), serves as the title track to Ellefson’s “More Life With Deth” companion album.

Hazaert commented:

“David had all these great instrumental songs laying around, and ‘Sleeping Giants’ was one of them. He suggested I write and record some vocals parts for them, so I called up DMC and asked if he’d want to collaborate with us on a track, and we got to work. I’ve always loved off the wall metal/hip-hop collaborations, ‘Judgement Night’, etc. And I think ‘Giants’ definitely draws from that. The song and video both ended up with a really cool aggressive, old-school New York hardcore/hip-hop. feel. It my book, it doesn’t get any more legendary than RUN DMC. And this was definitely one for the history books.”

Ellefson added:

“It was truly an honor to collaborate with DMC, and I think the track came out great. When Thom said DMC wanted to do a collaboration with us, I instantly thought of ‘Sleeping Giants’. And when he came out to Revolution in Amityville to perform with us, and shoot the video, it was an awesome energy. I think everyone there got a show they won’t ever forget.”
