During AXS TV’s “At Home And Social With Nuno Bettencourt & Friends” special, Generation Axe, the touring group featuring Bettencourt, Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Tosin Abasi, were joined by Queen’s Brian May for a cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Footage of that has since surfaced online and can be seen below. The aforementioned special aired on August 3 and it benefited the Music Forward Foundation’s Crew Nation initiative.

Sully Erna (Godsmack) has announced a “Live From The Living Room” fundraiser for The Scars Foundation. The event will stream on the frontman’s YouTube channel and the Foundation’s Facebook page on August 6 at 5:00 p.m PT / 8:00 p.m. ET and it will feature Godsmack, Erna solo (feat. Chris Lester and Máiréad Nesbitt), Staind’s Aaron Lewis, Shinedown’s Brent Smith and Zach Myers, Papa Roach, Saint Asonia’s Mike Mushok and Adam Gontier, Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt, and Sevendust’s Clint Lowery.
Erna commented:
“I had always looked for ways to give back and help others in some way after reaching certain levels of success in my life. But I could never really figure out where to dedicate my time and attention and what was important to me, or where I even had experience to offer. One day, I started thinking about my own life and being a survivor of such an extremely rough inner city and that’s where all my experience was. It was all the battle wounds and scars I’ve carried that made me stronger and made me the man I am today. Instead of being ashamed of my imperfections, or hiding from them, I learned how to embrace them and grow from those experiences. I want to share that with people and lend my stories, my experiences, and my theories on how you can overcome challenging times rather than letting them ruin your life.
And that’s why The Scars Foundation is so important to me. It’s personal. It’s my life. And it’s important that people who struggle with these mental health issues and ‘imperfections,’ or ‘scars,’ as we call them, learn how to embrace them, and show them to the world loudly and proudly!
I hope the work we do with The Scars Foundation inspires people to come forward and share their stories so that those stories inspire more people to come forward and break the silence and internal struggles.

During a recent “Soundcheck Live” event at Lucky Strike Live in Los Angeles, CA, Sully Erna (Godsmack) took the stage to perform covers of Alice In Chains’ “Man In The Box” and The Doobie Brothers’ “Long Train Running” with Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Glen Sobel, Derek Frank, and Steve Fekete. They include: Aerosmith, Audioslave, Nuno Bettencourt, Blink-182, Boston, Coverdale/Page, The Damned, Eagles, Extreme, Peter Frampton, Guns N’ Roses, Hole, Iron Butterfly, Jawbreaker, Jimmy Eat World, Kansas, Krokus, Limp Bizkit, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Duff McKagan, Meat Loaf, Nazareth, Night Ranger, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, No Doubt, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, Iggy Pop, Primus, Puddle Of Mudd, R.E.M., Soundgarden, Steppenwolf, Styx, Sublime, Temple Of The Dog, Tesla, Voivod, Whitesnake, Weezer, White Zombie, Y&T, Rob Zombie, and tons more. Many artists were unaware about their masters being lost and a number of them have filed a suit against UMG for breach of contract since the recordings weren’t properly secured and preserved. Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) have recorded a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar” for the “Muscle Shoals… Small Town, Big Sound” compilation album, which is set to be released September 28. That effort was put together by Rodney Hall, who wanted to pay tribute to his late father Rick Hall and his studio FAME.
