Benante said the following about the album:

“Back in February of last year with COVID and all the other B.S. that was going on, I was glued to the 24-hour news cycle on the TV and my phone, and I started to get really depressed. My girlfriend said I needed to turn off the news and suggested I do something creative, whether it was art or drumming or writing new songs, and she was right.”

“I knew a lot of my musician friends were going through the same thing I had been, so I started asking them if they wanted to get involved, play some songs with me, maybe make a video – that’s how it all started.”

“This isn’t a solo album. This is a record of my favorite songs done with some of my friends during a very dark time. We found a shining light and this is the result of that light. I was really happy that my musician friends came on board and helped make this record what it is. I appreciate all of them, and they all did such a fantastic job. Despite all of the darkness we’ve experienced this past year, there are ‘silver linings,’ that’s why I chose that title for the album.”

The record’s first single, Benante’s “Run-DMC Medley” with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax), and Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies), can be found below:

Watch Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, & Butcher Babies Members Cover Living Colour’s “Funny Vibe” With Corey Glover

Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies), and Henry Flurry (Butcher Babies) have shared a quarantine cover of Living Colour‘s “Funny Vibe,” which they worked on with Corey Glover himself. You can see footage of that below:

Benante commented:

“Well, if you gonna cover a @livingcolourofficial tune one thing is for sure: you better have someone who can sing. So… Why not having Mr. @coreyglover himself?! How cool is that?! I have a history with @livingcolour and this is beyond crazy to me that I get to “play” with Corey.

And even better to do it once again with my “online rhythm section partner” @ra_diaz (is that a thing now?) @suicidaltendencies and our friend @henryflury @butcherbabies
At a time when rock was increasingly looking beyond its own frontiers for inspiration, Living Colour’s #vivid was a genre-mashing stake in the ground, taking hard rock, modern jazz, funk and soul and more and binding them together with an incisive political spirit.

The Amazing musicianship throughout this music was incredible to take in. It was heavy and aggressive, yet improvisational and inventive. There was a groove to it and it was slamming in the assault.

One of my highlights was having @livingcolourofficial join us on Our European tour, it was one of my favorite tours. Night after night I would watch them Improvise and Create Music…it was inspiring. @ripmagazineofficial Lonn Friend @instadude74 Came out on that tour and gave us the cover, things were good.

Here is our Version of “funny Vibe” with a very special Guest @coreyglover I hope we did it justice. #funnyvibe”

Gears Share Video For Cover Of Living Colour’s “Cult Of Personality” Feat. Corey Glover

Gears have released a cover of Living Colour’s “Cult Of Personality.” The track features Corey Glover himself and an official video for it can be found below. Drummer Jimmy Wooten commented:

“‘Cult of Personality’ is a song that we always wanted to cover. That groove, that riff, the vocals, lyrical content … Everything about it has always stuck out to us and been a personal favorite. To have the opportunity to not only record a song that is important to us, but to have Corey Glover himself come in and perform on that track, it was truly a special moment. He was so easy and fun to work with and the final product is really something that we are extremely proud of”

Disciples Of Verity (Living Colour, Ex-God Forbid, Etc.) Premiere New Song “Worthy”

Disciples Of Verity, the band featuring Corey Glover (Living Colour), George Pond (ex-Negative Sky), Corey Pierce (ex-God Forbid), Mark Monjoy (Sekond Skyn), and Danny Puma (Negative Sky), have premiered a new song titled “Worthy.” This track features Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy) and it will appear on the group’s upcoming album “Pragmatic Sanction.” Glover commented:

“No matter what you go through, as long as you’re breathing and still here to see another day, it is another chance. Being worthy though, that is the rub you are always trying to figure out. The heart and mind play against each other. Your mind may say you aren’t good enough, but your heart knows you are worthy. That said, I am here for a reason. I am ‘worthy.'”

Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) On His New Project With Corey Glover (Living Colour): “It’s Just A Conglomeration Of Styles All Melded Into One”

During a recent interview on the Talking Metal podcast, Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) talked a bit about his new project with Corey Glover (Living Colour). According to him, the music will be “a conglomeration of styles all melded into one.”

Orlando said the following:

“[The music is] just straight-up rock. It’s heavy rock. Of course, it’s just one hundred percent chock-full of Corey Glover and my guitar styles. [It’s] bluesy [and] funky. There’s a little RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE in there. There’s a little bit of soul in there. All the stuff that I love kind of just melded into one melting pot. It’s just a conglomeration of styles all melded into one. There’s no one particular thing that it screams. It’s just heavy, hard rock kick in you know what. [Laughs]”

He went on to say the album is “one of the best things [he’s] have ever done” and that Glover “is not only the coolest cat going, but he is one of the greatest singers on this earth.” He continued: “It’s such an amazing experience to play with Corey and to be doing an album with him.”

Orlando also added:

“It’s everything you would imagine from Corey, and I add my element to it, which is different than I’ve ever done. It’s not ADRENALINE MOB, it’s not SONIC STOMP — this is something really cool and different for me, so it’s even that much more special for me.”

The duo have already recorded nine songs and may do a few more. The effort is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, despite their busy schedules:

“[Corey] has a big schedule, and I’ve been doing a lot of stuff and working behind the scenes, redoing my entire recording studio and just getting really back into this now. So, yeah, it’s just basically [a matter of] scheduling.”

Orlando and Glover will perform at the Iridium in New York City on September 9.
