Sammy Hagar On The Possibility Of An Eddie Van Halen Tribute Show: “It’s Gotta Happen”

During a recent interview with New York’s Q104.3 radio station, former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony were asked about the possibility of a tribute show for the band’s late guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Hagar responded with the following:

“It’s gotta happen. Of course it’s gonna happen. No one’s really connected all the dots with everyone involved, but I have been told, and I have read interviews with various people involved — with Wolfie [Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen] and Valerie [Bertinelli, Eddie’s ex-wife] and Eddie’s wife [Janie] that he was married to at the time — they all said as soon as this is over, we’re gonna get everybody together and do a tribute or whatever; just a ‘thank you,’ a goodbye, a send-off. And that’s an absolute must. I don’t care if it takes 10 years — that will happen. And if we’re available to do it, we’ll do it.”

Tesla, Vio-lence, Etc. Members To Join Rusty Chains For Fourth Annual Chris Cornell Tribute Event

Rusty Chains, the tribute band “that focuses on the unique sound of the Northwest in the late 80’s and early 90’s,” have announced their fourth annual Chris Cornell tribute event. The group will be streaming 26 songs across two nights via HOWLIVE.tv. The sets will take place on November 11 and November 12 with multiple guests set to take part including: Dave Rude (Tesla), Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head), Craig Locicero (ex-Forbidden), Steev Esquivel (Skinlab), and more.

Rusty Chains commented:

“With the tragic and sudden loss of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell to suicide while the band was in the middle of their spring tour in 2017, the world was shocked that someone so brilliant, who had transcended the grunge genre to become a world-renowned, mainstream solo artist would take his own life, seemingly at the height of his career. Our hearts were broken. We as a band knew that we needed to pay special homage to him in a way that was more profound than just playing our typical set of classics.

What we came up with was organizing a tribute show where we played a career-spanning set of songs, with the proceeds going to San Francisco Suicide Prevention as a way to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Our first annual Chris Cornell tribute and Suicide Prevention benefit took place a month after Chris’s death in front of a sold-out crowd at the legendary San Francisco venue, Slim’s, with the next two annual shows following suit. Our fourth benefit promises to be just as amazing, even though it will only be viewed on your screens. So please, tune in and help us help others in need.”

All donations and merchandise profits will benefit San Francisco Suicide Prevention.
