Benante said the following about the album:

“Back in February of last year with COVID and all the other B.S. that was going on, I was glued to the 24-hour news cycle on the TV and my phone, and I started to get really depressed. My girlfriend said I needed to turn off the news and suggested I do something creative, whether it was art or drumming or writing new songs, and she was right.”

“I knew a lot of my musician friends were going through the same thing I had been, so I started asking them if they wanted to get involved, play some songs with me, maybe make a video – that’s how it all started.”

“This isn’t a solo album. This is a record of my favorite songs done with some of my friends during a very dark time. We found a shining light and this is the result of that light. I was really happy that my musician friends came on board and helped make this record what it is. I appreciate all of them, and they all did such a fantastic job. Despite all of the darkness we’ve experienced this past year, there are ‘silver linings,’ that’s why I chose that title for the album.”

The record’s first single, Benante’s “Run-DMC Medley” with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax), and Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies), can be found below:

DMC And The Hellraisers Premiere “Monster” Music Video

DMC And The Hellraisers, the new project featuring Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Veronica Bellino (Life Of Agony), etc., have premiered a new video for their new song “Monster.” Bellino commented:

“The song has a lot of potential meanings. It could be an everyday monster like the evil people we sometimes see on the news, or maybe it’s the monster we create in our own heads. To us as a band, it represents what we call the ‘mental health monster,’ which lies behind the fake smile we wear to cover those dark realities. That is represented in the video by the weird, creepy smile of the man’s mask. Behind that, he is disturbed, and he’s in the house isolated and freaking out as the mental health monster eats him alive. The line ‘You better leave the light on’ is our way of saying, a breakthrough is possible if you let a little positivity shine through the darkness.”

Anthrax, Volbeat, & Suicidal Tendencies Members Join Forces With D.M.C. For RUN-D.M.C. Medley

Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax) and Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies) recently joined forces with Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels for a RUN-D.M.C. medley. You can see footage of that below. The track is also available to download via Bandcamp with proceeds set to go towards MusicUnites.org.

Benante commented:

“I always wanted to do a medley of RUN DMC songs, so back in March I decided to put an arrangement together and asked these amazing people to be a part of it.

How can you do a RUN DMC medley without the KING of ROCK- Darryl McDaniels DMC. I have been a RUN DMC fan from back when I first heard “It’s Like That/Sucker MCs” they had my attention immediately! It’s no secret that our “I’m the Man” song was inspired by RUN DMC and the Beastie boys…that’s how much we loved them.

I asked RA once again because he has the groove and creativity to adapt to any song. I love how he placed a familiar line at the end of the song that Just fit so well. I asked Rob Caggiano because I always loved his style.

I love the way he attacks his guitar and plays the tastiest shit. He throws this great Black metal riff in here that raises the tune to another level. We all came together to create this piece of music that makes US move.

I hope it YOU move! Maybe it inspires you to make music, play your instrument, write lyrics…”

Fever 333 Release “Animal” Remix Featuring DMC (Run-DMC)

Fever 333 have released a new J Randy & Nellz R333mix of their song “Animal.” This version of the track features DMC (Run-DMC) and it can be streamed below. Fever 333 said the following:

“When you ask a verified LEGEND if he’ll join you in your mission to sonically encourage conversation and they oblige, that is mind blowing in and of itself; but then when that legend drops a legendary verse for a remix discussing said mission- that’s some on some whole other “pinch me I must be dreaming” shit. That legend is the one and only @kingdmc of @rundmc and that remix (Animal) is out now…”
