Benante said the following about the album:

“Back in February of last year with COVID and all the other B.S. that was going on, I was glued to the 24-hour news cycle on the TV and my phone, and I started to get really depressed. My girlfriend said I needed to turn off the news and suggested I do something creative, whether it was art or drumming or writing new songs, and she was right.”

“I knew a lot of my musician friends were going through the same thing I had been, so I started asking them if they wanted to get involved, play some songs with me, maybe make a video – that’s how it all started.”

“This isn’t a solo album. This is a record of my favorite songs done with some of my friends during a very dark time. We found a shining light and this is the result of that light. I was really happy that my musician friends came on board and helped make this record what it is. I appreciate all of them, and they all did such a fantastic job. Despite all of the darkness we’ve experienced this past year, there are ‘silver linings,’ that’s why I chose that title for the album.”

The record’s first single, Benante’s “Run-DMC Medley” with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC), Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax), and Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies), can be found below:

Anthrax, Butcher Babies, & Suicidal Tendencies Members Cover Massive Attack’s “Teardrop”

Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies), and Roberto “Ra” Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies) have shared a quarantine cover of Massive Attack‘s “Teardrop.” You can check that out below:

Benante commented:

“I was on tour in the UK/Europe when I got Mezzanine by Massive Attack. I think it was 97/98 and I remember laying in my Bunk and being absorbed by the Music I was hearing. This was different than The Protection Record; It was Darker and the layered instruments created a dense listening experience…this album comes eerily close to giving me an out of body experience

There aren’t a lot of albums that can put me into a deep trance and keep me there for a long time, but this album does that amazingly well. The tracks really take their time to develop, and that mostly results in stunning instrumentals. Teardrop was one of those songs that I wish I’d Wrote, to this day it still gives me goosebumps.

I always wanted to do a “remix” or “my version”. I had the chance during this Quarantine/Stay at home Situation to make that happen. I asked RA and Carla to Help make it happen. The video is not like the normal Quarantine Videos, I wanted it to be Dark and Artsy Farsty ( like an MTV vid).

Carla Knocks it out of the park, she brought that vibe to the song and showed a different level I knew she had. Ra is On Point with the Rumble and groove, He always makes it look so easy.

Once again Thanks to @AndyLagis for the Mix, I know there was a lot to deal with but you Placed it all in the right spots DIma Levanchuk made a great video, not like a standard “quarantine Video”. He took his imagination and went somewhere with it.”

Leprous Premiere New Video For Their Cover Of Massive Attack’s “Angel”

Leprous have premiered a new video for their cover of Massive Attack’s “Angel.” Frontman Einar Solberg commented:

“There’s a first for everything, Leprous has made a cover version! Massive Attack has always been a big influence on me. To make something so rich out of something so simple has been their trademark, and it’s something with their atmosphere that just hits the right nerve in me. We’ve been playing this one live for a few months, and we’re super excited to finally release the song!”
