Leprous Premiere New Song “Distant Bells”

Leprous have premiered a new song titled “Distant Bells.” This track is from the band’s new album “Pitfalls,” which will be released on October 25.

Bassist Simen Børven commented:

“The instrumental part of ‘Distant Bells‘ is a compilation of my musical background. Influences from Nordic Jazz and Symphonic Pop infuses the attempt of stretching an extremely simple idea, from almost nothing, to an explosion towards the ending of the song. To me the composition is like an evolution from a single self-replicating cell into a complex sentient being.”

Einar Solberg added:

“It was both challenging and very refreshing to work on ‘Distant Bells‘, as the main instrumental idea didn’t come from me. It opened up new doors of creativity within myself and it was very exciting to do the melody and lyrics for this track. It’s a very different Leprous track, and it turned out to be one of my personal favourites. Simen has a different musical background than myself, and our contradictions are probably what made this song shine so bright.”

Leprous Premiere “Alleviate” Music Video

Leprous have premiered a new video for their new song “Alleviate.” This track is from the band’s new album “Pitfalls,” which will be released on October 25.

Einar Solberg commented:

“‘Alleviate‘ is a very important song to me. It carries hope within the melancholy. Not only is it one of, if not the most accessible tune we’ve ever done, but it also carries a deeper message. No doubt it for some will be a controversial track considering where Leprous started, but that’s what Leprous is all about: Moving forward! Also we couldn’t be happier about the amazing piece of visual art done by the extremely talented video director Troll Toftenes.”

Leprous Premiere “Below” Music Video

Leprous have premiered a new video for their new song “Below.” This track is from the band’s new album “Pitfalls,” which will be released on October 25.

Einar Solberg commented:

“‘Below’ was the first song written for the ‘Pitfalls’ album and it was composed in a period of denial of what was to come. It was a very spontaneous song, made first with only piano and vocals.

‘Below’ is a very emotional and melancholic track, and it means a lot to me personally — both musically and lyrically. Large cinematic string arrangements, electronic elements, very acoustic and organic parts — all combined. Very epic but at the same time very fragile!”

Leprous To Release New Album “Pitfalls” In October

Leprous have announced that their new album “Pitfalls” will be released on October 25. You can check out the cover art and track listing below:

“Pitfalls” Track Listing:

01. “Below”
02. “I Lose Hope”
03. “Observe The Train”
04. “By My Throne”
05. “Alleviate”
06. “At The Bottom”
07. “Distant Bells”
08. “Foreigner”
09. “The Sky Is Red”

Einar Solberg commented:

“We’re incredibly proud to announce ‘Pitfalls‘! It’s the album no-one is expecting from Leprous. When you think you know where it’s headed, you’ll realize that you’re wrong. It’s not only by far the biggest production and musical departure we’ve done, but the also most personal and honest.

The album has been written through one of my toughest years, where I struggled with depression and anxiety. No filters, no metaphors, just the truth. They say that writing music is therapeutic. but I would say that it’s an understatement. For me ‘Pitfalls‘ is the result of 1.5 years of learning how to get through the dark tunnel. The music has been my torch.”

The first single will be released on August 30. In other news, the group have also shared a new video in which they reflect on their 2017 album “Malina”:

Leprous Hit The Studio For New Album

Leprous have entered the studio to begin the recording process for their new album. The effort is expected to be released later this year via InsideOutMusic.

Drummer Baard Kolstad said the following:

“We entered the studio to record the drums for half of the album last week with David Castillo @ Ghostward/Fascination Street Studios, same studio as we recorded the 2 latest studio albums. As an over autistic control freak I am when recording myself, this time around I had more time than ever to perfectionise and experiment with my sound almost without compromises, so a big thanks to Einar and David for their patience!

We also recorded 1 song together, drums and bass, something neither Leprous or I have ever done before. Feeling very good to leave the drum recording for now, focusing on the last half of the album to be recorded in May. I’m so looking forward to hear the outcome just in a few days when the guitarists have put their touch. Will be a different Leprous album for sure, but still Leprous!”
