Primal Fear To Release New Single “I Will Be Gone” Featuring Tarja Turunen (Ex-Nightwish)

Primal Fear will be releasing a new five-track single titled “I Will Be Gone” on April 9. The effort will feature the updated title track, which features Tarja Turunen (Ex-Nightwish), a new song titled “Vote Of No Confidence,” and three bonus tracks, “Rising Fear,” “Leave Me Alone,” and “Second To None,” from the limited digipack edition of “Metal Commando.”

Primal Fear bassist Mat Sinner commented:

“There were three famous vocalists on our final wish list. That it was Tarja who got involved in this song is a matter of pure joy for all of us. Working together on the song and video was totally relaxed and professional — a great experience also because Tarja’s and Ralf’s [Scheepers] voices go together incredibly well. Now, we can expand the ‘Metal Commando’ saga with a unique chapter. We’re all really proud of this single.”

Turunen added:

“I was very happy to receive the invitation to take part in Primal Fear’s beautiful song ‘I Will Be Gone’. We started our careers nearly at the same time many years ago, and finally got a chance to work together. I love the song and personally it helped me to stay connected and rock again, even if at the studio this time. I really hope that people will like this collaboration and that it will bring them joy especially during these difficult times we are living through at the moment.”

The single will be available on multi-colored vinyl, shaped vinyl, CD digipack, and digitally.

Dee Snider Recording Christmas Song With Tarja Turunen

During an interview on the “Behind The Vinyl” podcast, Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) revealed that he has teamed up Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) to record a Christmas song. The frontman said the following about that:

“I wrote this song for my wife many years ago. You guys may or may not know that Celine Dion recorded a Christmas song I wrote [called ‘God Bless Us Everyone’]. I wrote it as a gift for my wife; I never wrote it for commercial purposes. And I can’t — it’s just out of my range to sing it. But long story short, I decided to do my own rendition of it, and I asked Tarja to sing it as a duet with me, ’cause it’s got some really high parts in it. So Jeff Pilson from DOKKEN and FOREIGNER, he’s producing it. And we’re just finishing the tracks right now, so we’re gonna start doing the vocals. That’ll come out later this year.”

Tarja Turunen (Ex-Nightwish) Premieres “Tears In Rain” Music Video

Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) has premiered a new video for her song “Tears In Rain.” This track is from her new album “In The Raw,” which will be released on August 30.

The following was offered about the video:

Taking you to the world of Roller derby, Tarja plays the roller Black Leijona who, together with her all-female team Killer Crows, is on the edge of losing the ultimate decisive game of the season. By facing and overcoming her own insecurities, she becomes the fearless team leader again.

“For my third single ‘Tears in Rain’ I was looking for a strong video”, explains Tarja. “I didn’t want to get into a cliché of tears and rain or a breakup story. The song is about overcoming difficulties that could apply to any aspects of life. The instructions I gave to director Florian Kaltenbach (‘Victim of Ritual’, ‘500 Letters’) was to avoid the obvious. I wanted an action video where I could take part in. He proposed the roller derby idea and I loved it.”

Naturally, the video presented a huge challenge to Tarja as it’s the first time she tried out the sport – unfortunately, not without any injuries: during training, she dislocated her coccyx.

“I haven’t been on skates too much. I have been ice skating in my youth, but I realized immediately that skating with rollers is a totally different thing. I had to learn, and I only had three days before the video shooting that took place in London!! I knew I was in trouble.

It’s already common for me to get hurt in my videos, and this was not an exception. I had an accident in a skatepark near home and dislocated mycoccyx (Broke my ass!). Despite of terrible pain I did two shows and the video shoot with a broken butt. So – as in the story of the video – I myself overcame difficulties. If you see me in pain in some parts of the video, that is not acting. The roller girls and the video team took good care of me and I enjoyed the experience despite my condition. I had a lot of fun! When I recover, I wish to take my daughter to skate with me. We both got hooked on roller skating!”

Tarja Turunen (Ex-Nightwish) Premieres “Railroads” Music Video

Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) has premiered a new video for her song “Railroads.” This track is from her new album “In The Raw,” which will be released on August 30.

Turunen previously said the following about the song:

“Apparently, it seems like I wrote weird lyrics, yet I pulled inspiration from one book. Paulo Coelho is a very important writer, and I have discovered a lot about myself through his texts. In ‘Aleph’, he goes on a train journey through Siberia, and he writes a book based on his experiences on that trip. I wanted to go beyond everything and think about myself and my own journey. The whole album is a journey, in a way.

The funny thing is, ‘Railroads’ is a very old song which I have had on demo for years. It always felt like a train ride and I even named it like that before having any lyrics or before ‘Aleph’ was published. It’s so old I can’t even remember when I started writing it, for the first or second album? And I’ve only finished it now.”
