Erlend Hjelvik (Ex-Kvelertak) Announces New Solo Project Hjelvik

Ex-Kvelertak frontman Erlend Hjelvik has returned with a new solo project called Hjelvik. The band, which also features guitarist Rob Steinway, guitarist Remi André Nygård, bassist Alexis Lieu, and drummer Kevin Foley, will release their debut album “Welcome To Hel” later this year via Nuclear Blast.

Hjelvik said the following about signing with Nuclear Blast:

“Signing with Nuclear Blast is a dream come true for me. Since I was a teenager, I’ve been a fan of classic NB bands like Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames and so on — so that makes me feel extra proud to call Nuclear Blast my new label home. I’m certain Nuclear Blast will do an awesome job bringing Hjelvik metal to the masses on my new album, ‘Welcome To Hel’, and many more to come.”

He went on to say that the new material will feature “blackened Viking heavy metal” with lyrics based on Norse mythology and history.

Jens Prüter, head of A&R at Nuclear Blast Europe, added:

“It’s been 10 years since I first saw Erlend with Kvelertak in my hometown Dortmund in Germany. Their debut album had only been out for a couple of months and was on heavy rotation on my turntable. I was blown away by the raw energy of his stage performance, and ten years later, it is an honour to start working with him on Hjelvik. He has not lost his high energy and brings his unique mix of black metal, hard rock and punk to a new level. Welcome to Nuclear Blast and onward to Hel!

Kvelertak Announce “Live From Amper Tone Studio” Virtual Concert

Kvelertak have announced another livestream concert. The set will take place at Amper Tone Studio in Oslo, Norway on June 20 and tickets can be purchased HERE.

The band commented:

“Hello friends! First of all, we hope that all of you are safe and in good health! We REALLY miss playing shows and interacting with our fans…but we are fortunate to be able to rehearse and continue to make new music. We were supposed to be out playing festivals right now and continuing to promote our newest album Splid. Since that’s not possible, we have planned a new livestream event to try and make up for it.

We’ve booked Amper Tone Studio in Oslo — the studio where we recorded Nattesferd— and turned it into a ‘Kvelertak Game Show’ set. We’ll be spinning the Kvelertak ‘Setlist of Fortune.’ We’ve dug up some old classics and rehearsed songs we’ve never or seldom played live before. There will be a proper Q&A and we’ll take a couple requests.

Everyone who buys a ticket will be entitled to join a competition to win some pretty rad prizes. We’ll be giving out a guitar, a Kvelertak limited numbered skate deck, rare demos, custom picks, signed vinyls, our onstage prop owls, etc.

We had more fun than we expected on the last stream (check that out) and we hope you did as well! Come join us again! Thank you all for the support!”

Kvelertak Premiere “Bråtebrann” Live Video

Kvelertak have premiered a new live video for their song “Bråtebrann.” This track is from the band’s latest album “Splid.” The clip was filmed during the band’s April 10 “Live From Your Living Room” show, which was livestreamed from an empty venue in Horten, Norway.

Kvelertak To Livestream Show This Week

Kvelertak will be livestreaming a “Live From Your Living Room” show on April 10. The set will take place in Horten, Norway at 2pm CDT/3pm EDT/8pm BST/9pm CET. You can pay to watch the performance HERE.

The band commented:

“KVELERTAK ONE DAY WORLD TOUR! We had over three weeks left of our European tour when everything started closing down and we had to get back home. Like so many of you right now, we don’t know when we can get back to work and out on the road again.

But only boring people get bored. So while we’re waiting for the apocalypse to either wipe us all out or just pass us by this time, we are inviting ourselves into your homes on Friday, April 10 at 9pm CET (8pm BST) for our Kvelertak One Day World Tour.

It’ll be a different type of show (obviously) than you’ve seen us do before and we’ll do some kind of Q&A as well. There will be a special event t-shirt for sale and we’ll put our new tour merch store up online. Hope to see all our fans worldwide for this one. Take care, stay safe, stay home!”

Kvelertak Postpone All Remaining European Dates

Kvelertak have postponed all of their remaining European dates due to the coronavirus pandemic. The band issued the following statement:

“We made it this far, and it’s been a good ride! But our tour sadly ends here. Due to the current world situation, we are postponing all our remaining tour dates. We are all in this together, and we want to do our part. We will be working on new dates and hope to have them for you as soon as possible. Thank you for all whom have been to our shows so far. Stay safe. Wash your hands. Listen to your local authorities, and Kvelertak! See you soon everybody.”
