Brian Posehn has officially confirmed all of the special guests that will appear on his new comedy metal album “Grandpa Metal.” That effort will be released on February 14 and it will feature members of Slipknot, Anthrax, Fall Out Boy, Soundgarden, and more. Posehn said the following about the album:

“The original concept for this album came from bands like Scatterbrain and S.O.D., and even Cheech and Chong. They all made music that was fun and funny, heavy music that also made you laugh.

I wanted this to be the ultimate comedy/metal record, a loving record that made fun of some of the things in heavy metal, so I called all my friends and asked for a bunch of favors.

There’s a Satan song, and there’s a Viking song, there’s one song that sounds like Black Metal, and then there’s one that sounds like a Van Halen party song. The intention was just to make a funny metal/comedy record for people who like both of those things.”

He also added:

“This was such a dream project for me. I wanted to take my time, I wanted it to be perfect, so it took us six years to complete. It’s the ‘Chinese Democracy‘ of comedy-metal records. And it didn’t cost thirteen million dollars to make.”

Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) took the stage for a solo show at The Roxy in West Hollywood, CA last night (February 20) and he was joined by a number of guests for various covers. A special “Strange 80s 2” benefit concert will be held at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on October 12 and it will feature a number of musicians covering various 80s songs. All of the proceeds will go towards 320 Changes Direction. During John 5’s (Rob Zombie, ex-Marilyn Manson) April 6 show at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California, the guitarist was joined onstage by multiple special guests. They included Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe, Sixx:A.M.), Scott Ian (Anthrax), and Pearl Aday who played a cover of Mötley Crüe’s “Shout At The Devil” and original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who performed KISS’ “Parasite” and “Shock Me.” Matt Starr (Mr. Big, Ace Frehley) and Dug Pinnick (King’s X) also sang backing vocals on “Shock Me” as well.
