“Empathy” 11.07.2020, Richmond, VA. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, ABC, CBS… all the major news networks have just called the 2020 Presidential election for Joe Biden & Kamala Harris. Although these are just projections by media outlets (nothing is official until the members of the Electoral College cast their votes on Dec. 14th, 2020, then announced by a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021), & although there will be a lot of lawsuits brought forth by Donald Trump who will not concede anytime soon (or ever?), it’s obvious that it’s OVER- Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States. At this time, I would like to encourage everyone, no matter who you voted for, to behave with some class; to speak & act with some empathy. This country has been consumed by a toxic polarity- it is time for that toxicity to end, because it is not sustainable & it does not accomplish anything. We are all tired. We all have strong feelings. It is time to act like adults with correctly calibrated moral compasses. My feelings about President Trump (& politicians in general, for that matter) are well known, but I have zero reason to gloat. That is childish, & it accomplishes nothing. Instead I will choose to act with empathy, & hope that some level of civility will return to American discourse across the board. I just came back from a “Stop the Steal” rally near the VA State Capitol, where I shot these photos. No one was rude to me, & they announced from the beginning that it would be a peaceful protest- that is their right, & although I disagree with them, I support their right- they are my countrymen & women. These people are going to be very upset today- I will show people like this empathy in the hope that we can find common ground somehow, & that this terrible atmosphere that has hung over America for the last 4 years will begin to lift. It HAS to, or we all are screwed. Please- let’s all start talking to each other again. I hope you all have a good day- now, I’m going surfing. Peace. #Leica #LeicaCamera #LeicaCameraUSA #LeicaM #LeicaM10P #LeicaM10Ptyp3656 #🔴📷 #Summilux #Summilux50mm #LeicaCraft #MadeInWetzlar #drandallblythe #RatsEyesPhotography #honetheaesthetic

Congratulations to President Elect Joe Biden and trailblazer Kamala Harris !!! It’s been hard for me to stay silent over the last few days, weeks, months, but I felt it would be wrong to interfere in even the smallest way in the politics of another country. But there is a part of me that will always be rooted in the USA – I love America and have felt profound pain watching its freedoms and decency being eroded. I can now finally speak up. I feel massive joy – I see this is a victory for the people by the people – and hopefully just in time to make it possible to start to heal the terrible damage that has been done to the American Nation and its standing in the World in recent times. I’m thrilled for my dear American friends, that they have taken this step to reclaim compassion, justice, truth, accountability, and dignity. I’m well aware that America is split as to whether Trump as a president was a Champ or a Chump. But what you guys will discover over the next few weeks is that the rest of the world was NOT split. The whole world, like me, is rejoicing with you at this moment – feeling that we are getting our best friend back – our friend America. Yes – I will pray for unity and decent debate, with some great Rebublicans sharing the work load in the new regime. And – Yes – at last – the United States of America can again be Champions of the World !!! Bri

Slaves On Dope Members Launch New Covers Project, Recruit Korn, Mastodon, Etc. Members For Cover Of Faith No More’s “We Care A Lot”

Slaves On Dope’s Jason Rockman and Kevin Jardine have decided to launch a new quarantine covers project called The Kings Of Quarantine. The band’s first single, a cover of Faith No More’s “We Care A Lot,“ features the following artists: Frank Bello (Anthrax), Ray Luzier (Korn), Bill Kelliher (Mastodon), Ivan Doruschuk (Men Without Hats), Dennis Lyxzén (Refused), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, etc.), Kevin Sharp (ex-Brutal Truth, etc.), Darryl McDaniels (Run-D.M.C.), Esoteric (Czarface), Richard Patrick (Filter), and Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace). Faith No More’s Billy Gould also makes an appearance in the video as well.

Rockman said the following:

“Kevin and I have always been massive fans of Faith No More and having the opportunity to cover one of their songs with such great company has been a dream come true. We are so grateful to all the musicians involved that accepted our invitation.”

McDaniels added:

“We did this because we care a lot about everyone! Especially those who put their lives on the line to make sure we are ok!”

Patrick also commented:

“I care a lot about being part of this amazing cover. It’s an honor and a privilege. To be rubbing elbows with the likes of these gentlemen makes me feel very proud.”

The track can be purchased on Bandcamp with all the proceeds set to go towards Roadie Relief.

Filter Reveal New Album Title

Richard Patrick has confirmed that Filter are working on a new album titled “They Got Us Right Where They Want Us, At Each Other’s Throats.” The frontman was previously working on a follow-up to “Short Bus” with Brian Liesegang, but those plans were recently scrapped.

Patrick told Loudwire the following:

“reBus is noBus, or at least not-right-now bus.

Brian and I have decided to shelve the reBus album for right now for a variety of reasons, but know this…

I will be working on a new FILTER album called “They Got Us Right Where They Want Us, At Each Other’s Throats.”

Hopefully three songs will be on the new album that Brian and I wrote together, working titles being “Murica,” “Thoughts and Prayers” and “(Command-Z) High as a Muv’ Fucka’.”

Venue Cancels Filter’s El Paso, TX Show Due To An “Offending” Facebook Post & The Band’s Plans To Display An American Flag Upside Down

Filter were supposed to perform at the Speaking Rock Casino in El Paso, TX tonight (March 7), but the show was cancelled after the venue took issue with a caption on a Facebook post made by Richard Patrick. The venue also didn’t like the fact that the band were planning to use an upside down American flag in their video backdrop.

Filter commented:

“FILTER(ED) IN TEXAS

Speaking Rock Casino in El Paso, TX, the Tigua Tribe’s Casino / Resort / Music Venue has cancelled tonight’s FILTER show, due to a humorous Facebook post written by vocalist, Richard Patrick, and the band’s plans to use the American flag turned upside down in their background video on stage.

The “offending” post, which included a short video of the band soundchecking at the venue:

This is sound check!! We’re Playing El Paso!!!
Get here later and it will be packed!! A lot of Trump bashing!
Does anyone know Beto?? Bring Beto!

The band was told the venue “didn’t like” the post and that they were getting threatening phone calls and bomb threats from Texans who didn’t like it either. The tour manager was in the green room and woke up from a pre-show nap to 30 yellow-shirted security guards and the General Manager shouting expletives and telling the band they were not welcome at the venue. “The First Amendment does not exist in this Casino. Get the f@*k out,” they said.

Management also told Patrick that it was illegal to display the flag upside down in their video. The law to which they might refer is Title 4, US Code “(a) The flag should never be displayed with union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

Patrick explains “This is a dire emergency! This country is totally jacked up!! This is my right to artistic expression. If they are going to tell me that I am un-American for saying that about the President, I’d ask them if they have been to Iraq or Afghanistan. I have been over there and love and respect the job that our troops are doing over there – fighting to ensure our rights to say what we like. As a matter of fact – I was asked recently what FILTER stands for and THIS IS IT – our freedom of expression!”

In addition to the First Amendment, The Texas Constitution, in Article I, sections 8 and 27 protects the “liberty to speak, write or publish … opinions on any subject.” You have the right to express your views in these ways regardless of how unpopular or controversial they may be. #firstamendment #gop #filter2019 #america”

The venue also issued a statement:

“Unfortunately due to safety concerns associated with Filter’s performance tonight we will be canceling their show. We want everyone who comes to our venue to experience entertainment with positivity, union, safety, and joy. We all have our own political views and want to respect everyone’s opinion, but our shows will not be a platform for it. We apologize for the cancellation.”

Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst’s House Reportedly Destroyed In California Fires, Tool, Filter, Etc. Members Evacuated

The deadly fires here in California have had an impact on a number of rock/metal musicians. Among them is Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, who appears to have lost his house. He said the following on his Instagram story:

“When you wake up and your house has burned down, but you were able to salvage your chair and thermos and paddleball.”

Durst‘s bandmate Wes Borland also seems to have lost some gear in the fire:

Tool’s Adam Jones and his family have also been evacuated and their house is in danger:

Filter Launch PledgeMusic Campaign For New Album

Original Filter members Richard Patrick and Brian Liesegang have launched a PledgeMusic campaign for their new album. This news comes after Patrick previously said the effort will likely serve as a direct follow-up to their debut album “Short Bus.“ Those that participate in the campaign will be able to get signed CDs, memorabilia, etc. The band are also planning to let their fans decide on the album title. On another note, Patrick and Liesegang have also revealed that they reunited after Louise Post (Veruca Salt) told them “…to bury any bullshit, forget the crap, and get their shit together” during a live show they attended.

Filter’s Richard Patrick Says Phil Anselmo & Rex Brown Should Reunite Pantera With Friends Of Dimebag & Vinnie Paul

Filter’s Richard Patrick recently took to social media to express a desire to see surviving Pantera members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown reunite with friends of the late Abbott brothers. Up until his death, Vinnie Paul never liked the idea of the band returning without Dimebag Darrell, so it probably wouldn’t be right to do it now. Regardless, you can read Patrick’s thoughts on the subject below.

Here’s Patrick’s statement (spelling mistakes included):

“Statement!! For some reason… I just feel the need to say this!! Phil Anselmo!! Is the greatest singer in metal. He’s the sweetest dude ever. I love that guy!! I really hope he knows how much we all love him. He’s been vilified! He’s been misunderstood!! But I absolutely just need and want to say this!!!

Coming from my punk Industrial past when I heard and saw Phil I was completely blown away. I was not into metal at the time but… when I saw a shaved headed punk fronting Pantera I thought to myself thats one of mine… a punk, mean as fuck, super voiced, crushing mother fucker who is speaking to me. Trent Reznor Played me A Vulgar Display of Power and I was awe struck. I was never the same!!!

HAVING SAID THAT… (I know I’m stepping in it and it’s none of my business no one put me up top this) IT WOULD BE A CRIME AGAINST MUSIC TO NOT PUT PANTERA BACK TOGTHER WITH TRUSTED FRIENDS OF VIENIE PAUL, DIME BAG!!! Off the top of my head.. I would think guys like Zack Wylde and Ray Luizer. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVED VINNIE AND DARREL!!

I KNOW IT’S RIGHT AFTER VINNIE‘S DEATH.. I WILL TAKE THE HEAT I UNDERSTAND I LOOK INSENSITIVE BUT FOR GOD SAKES PLEASE BRING PANTRA BACK TO US SO WE CAN CELEBRATE THE TRUE MEMORY OF VINNIE AND DARREL AS WELL AS SEE THE ABSOLUTE, MIND BLOWING, LIVING LEGENDS PHIL AND REX!!! SEARCH YOUR FEELINGS! YOU KNOW I’M RIGHT!! Nineties rock genius are dying way to fucking fast… For fuck sakes you were thinking it, I said!! #PANTERA”

Filter Are Planning An “Official Reboot Of Initial Filter”

Filter’s Richard Patrick and Brian Liesegang have offered some insight into their current plans and it seems they are going back to the beginning. In one post, Patrick said their next album, which is tentatively titled “Re-Bus,” will likely serve as a follow-up to their debut album, “Short Bus.“ In a separate post, Liesegang also added that the group are basically going for an “official reboot of initial Filter.”
