Black Star Riders Hoping To Record New Album This Summer

During a recent interview with Talking Metal, Ricky Warwick offered an update on the new Black Star Riders album. He said the following:

“We have written the next BLACK STAR RIDERS album. It’s done. It’s demoed. We’re just waiting for when it’s safe that we can all come together and get into the studio, which will be here in L.A. with [producer] Jay Ruston again, and actually record the thing. So I’m hoping this summer we’ll be able to get in and get it recorded.”

During this year’s Ride For Ronnie concert in Glendale, CA, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl joined Ricky Warwick (Black Star Riders, Thin Lizzy), Keith Nelson (ex-Buckcherry), and Robbie Crane (Black Star Riders) onstage for some covers of Motörhead‘s “Bomber” and Thin Lizzy‘s “Jailbreak.“ You can see footage of that below:

Mastodon’s Troy Sanders To Play Bass For Thin Lizzy During Summer European Festivals

Thin Lizzy have announced that Mastodon’s Troy Sanders will be playing bass on their European festival dates. The rest of the band’s lineup will include: guitarist Scott Gorham, keyboardist Darren Wharton, vocalist Ricky Warwick, guitarist Damon Johnson, and drummer Scott Travis (Judas Priest).

Gorham said the following:

“We are very happy to welcome Troy to the Lizzy family! We met a few years ago at Download festival and he’s a great guy and killer bass player to boot, so very happy he wanted to join us for the shows this summer.”

Warwick added:

“Mastodon are a fantastic band and knowing how much of a thin lizzy fan Troy is, he will be an amazing addition to the fold”

Sanders also commented:

“It’s no secret that Thin Lizzy has had a big influence on Mastodon’s music. Being asked to join them on stage is a big deal and true honor to me. I am really looking forward to it!”

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund will hold the fifth annual Ride For Ronnie motorcycle ride and concert on May 5. The ride will start at the Harley-Davidson store in Glendale, CA, before heading up the highway at 11AM PT to the Los Encinos Park, where riders will be greeted with music, a raffle, silent and live auctions, food trucks, and more. Among those performing will be BulletBoys, Sadie & The Tribe, a Dio tribute band called Dia, Budderside, a Tom Petty/Johnny Cash tribute band called Petty Cash, DC4, and Eddie Trunk’s all-star band, which will feature Ricky Warwick (Black Star Riders), Robbie Crane (Black Star Riders), Keith Nelson (ex-Buckcherry), Dewey Bragg (Kill Devil Hill), Sean McNabb (ex-Dokken, etc.), Simon Wright (ex-AC/DC, etc.), Jerry Montano (ex-HELLYEAH, etc.), Ace Von Johnson (Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns), Johnny Martin (L.A. Thin Lizzy To Head Out On “Jailbreak” 40th Anniversary/Recruit Motörhead’s Mikkey Dee

Thin Lizzy will be heading out on tour to commemorate the 40th anniversary of “Jailbreak,” as well as to pay tribute to Phil Lynott, who passed away 30 years ago. The band have recruited Motörhead’s Mikkey Dee to handle the drum duties. The rest of the lineup includes: Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Ricky Warwick, and Darren Wharton.
