Prophets Of Rage Disband Following Rage Against The Machine Reunion

Prophets Of Rage, the band featuring Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk, Public Enemy’s Chuck D and DJ Lord, and Cypress Hill’s B-Real, appear to have called it quits. This news isn’t too surprising considering Rage Against The Machine will be reuniting next year.

B-Real issued the following statement:

“I want to say thank you to the fans that supported @prophetsofrage for the time we’ve been rocking together. It’s been an honor to rock stages and people of all ages with these guys. It’s been a great time and great memories in a short time. Rockin along side of Chuck and Tom has been amazing to say the least. It was fun while it lasted and I hope we left a big impression and that the music has been a source of inspiration for those that needed it. That was the purpose we got together. So I say to y’all stay informed, stay engaged and fight the good fight. ✌🏽️🤟🏼”

Chuck D also commented:

“It was about doing something greater than self. 2020 keeping ZDLR spot warm for @RATM & powering a 👊🏿statement for 1000 days was a honorable truth mission in the hours of chaos from the jump… And so the bands rock on…. Let’s go @cypresshill @PublicEnemyFTP @prophetsofrage”

Prophets Of Rage Premiere “Pop Goes The Weapon” Music Video

Prophets Of Rage (Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill) have premiered a new video for their new song “Pop Goes The Weapon.” This track is expected to appear on the band’s upcoming album. The group said the following:

“#PopGoesTheWeapon reflects the ongoing gun violence happening in America. Guns are both the subject of religious worship AND huge profits in the United States. Combined with emboldened white nationalism the recent epidemic of massacres is little surprise. #PopGoesTheWeapon channels our “thoughts & prayers” through Marshall stacks & microphones.”

Tom Morello Guests On New 5 Seconds Of Summer Song “Teeth”

Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Prophets Of Rage, etc.) is featured on 5 Seconds Of Summer’s new song “Teeth.“ This track will appear on the “13 Reasons Why” season three soundtrack (out August 23) and an official video for it can be found below. 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Luke Hemmings commented:

“‘Teeth‘ came about after a month or two long blur of writing and pushing ourselves to go a step further than ‘Youngblood‘. It was a tumultuous time in my life and the lyrics in the song definitely reflect that. It speaks lyrically about a trying time in my current relationship. Musically it’s another step forward from ‘Easier‘ and really embraces industrial sounds and rhythms.”

Tom Morello To Tell His Life Story At Special New York City Events

Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Prophets Of Rage, etc.) has announced that he will be telling his life story during some special events at the Minetta Lane Theatre in New York, NY. The shows will take place on September 18-20.

Morello commented:

“I was the only black kid in an all-white town, the only anarchist at a conservative high school, the only heavy metal guitarist at Harvard University, and the only Ivy League Star Trek nerd in the biggest political rap rock band of all time. The songs, the stories, the triumphs, the tragedies, the riffs, the rebellion — all will be revealed. Oh, and I’m going play a lot of ripping guitar, too.”

The events will be executive produced by T Bone Burnett and they will be recorded for an upcoming Audible release.

In other news, Prophets Of Rage have also announced that they will be performing at The Mayan in Los Angeles, CA on September 12. The group will be partnering with PATH for the concert.

Prophets Of Rage Premiere New Song “Made With Hate”

Prophets Of Rage (Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill) have premiered a new song titled “Made With Hate.” This track is expected to appear on the band’s upcoming album. Chuck D commented:

“AS WITH MANY songs ‘Made With Hate’ was formed out of a conversation amongst ourselves about the level of passion fuel it takes to create. Especially when attacking something of HATE. You must create the energy to hate ‘HATE’. To have PEACE you have to despise Hatred with a passion for Peace and attack it. You can’t have hate take over anything especially history, so you have to fuel yourself to attack in thought word and deed with equal passion.”
