Allt have premiered a new video for their song “High Hopes.” You can check that out below. The track is from the band’s latest album “Ataraxia.”

The group commented:

“‘High Hopes’ is about becoming so used to feeling depressed that feeling good starts to scare you. You finally get a moment where everything feels okay, but instead of allowing yourself to enjoy it, you start waiting for it to disappear. You convince yourself you’ve reached the peak and that everything can only get worse from here. In doing that, you end up cheating yourself out of the very feeling you’ve been searching for.”

Vocalist Robin Malmgren continued:

“This cycle makes it almost impossible to be fully present around the people you care about and love. You want to give back the appreciation and love you get, but it’s so hard when this constant battle within yourself keeps pulling you under. It makes everything you say and do feel fake. Why is it so hard to just tell the people around you how you really feel? I guess a lot of it is rooted in shame. It makes you feel completely alone, like you’re lost at sea, even though you know that has never been the truth. And never will be.”

The band added:

“The chorus was written in a house in the Stockholm archipelago. I remember us walking around the room as the words started falling into place, looking at each other and realizing we’d hit something that felt painfully relatable. It was emotional, but also incredibly cathartic to actually say it out loud.

The song itself started much earlier with a demo from Viktor. The original idea was the chorus leading into the middle section, with ‘chasing a moment frozen in time’ being one of the first lyrical pieces Robin had. Olle took that demo and built the rest of the song around it, and the final acoustic section and big sing-along came together with James during those writing sessions in the archipelago.

From the first lines, water and reflection became part of the DNA of the song.”
