    Therion mastermind Christofer Johnsson commented:

    “In the past, our concept was more like Therion going classical, with the band and the symphonic orchestra meeting on an equal basis. Thus, we did a fully orchestral version of one song and it was divided almost 50/50 between playing Therion songs and classical excerpts being rearranged for band and orchestra. This time, however, I wanted to take a different approach. I invited a renowned conductor and composer from Mexico to reinterpret our songs by adding new arrangements and expanding the originals with the orchestra. They also wrote some new intros and small interludes, making this a truly authentic Mexican interpretation of Therion live with orchestra.”

    A video for the first single, an orchestral version of “The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah,” can be found below. The band added the following about that track:

    “‘The Rise Of Sodom And Gomorrah’ is our most popular song and it was an obvious choice for this event. But it is also one of the most suitable songs to perform live with orchestra.”

  • Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine: “We’re Easily Talking About Touring For Another Three To Five Years”

    During a recent interview with Kerrang!, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine discussed the band’s upcoming farewell shows. According to him, they are “easily talking about touring for another three to five years.”

    Mustaine said the following:

    “I think when things happen like the throat cancer, or my neck being fused, or the saturnine palsy in my arm, most people would stop. Most people would be terrified, and I did step back and regroup. But this is what I love doing, and I know that at some point the time is going to come for our last show.”

    “We’re easily talking about touring for another three to five years. And if we’re going to be doing it for that long then, shit, I’ll be looking at the birthday I don’t even want to think about!”

    “I’m not caught up in longevity and stuff like that, and being one of those guys who can play until he’s in his 80s. I have to remember that people live and they die. And I need to take good care of myself.”

    Raven have shared their cover of Metallica’s “Metal Militia.” That track will appear on Silver Lining Music’s Metallica tribute album, “No Life ‘Til Leather – A Tribute To Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All,” which will be released on November 14. Raven vocalist/bassist John Gallagher commented:

    “We are very happy and honored to have been asked to be part of this awesome tribute to our old sparring partners. Our cover version is many things as you will hear… in the best tradition of the guys themselves, but I think we captured that Metallica ‘snarl’…. Especially by changing a few key elements!
