The 62nd annual Grammy Awards is currently being held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA tonight (January 26) and the winners have already been revealed in the rock/metal categories. They include the following:

Best Rock Album: Cage The Elephant – “Social Cues“

The late Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, etc.) also won an award in the Best Recording Package category for his posthumous career retrospective.

Alice Cooper, Foo Fighters, Etc. To Honor Aerosmith At “MusiCares Person Of The Year” Tribute Concert

Alice Cooper, Foo Fighters, Gary Clark Jr., H.E.R., John Legend, John Mayer, The Jonas Brothers, Emily King, and Yola will be honoring Aerosmith at the 2020 “MusiCares Person Of The Year” tribute concert in Los Angles, CA on January 24. Musical director Greg Phillinganes will lead the artists through various tracks from Aerosmith’s catalog. More guests will be announced at a later date.

Tom Morello Premieres New Song “Can’t Stop The Bleeding” Feat. Gary Clark Jr. & Gramatik

Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Prophets Of Rage) has premiered a new song titled “Can’t Stop The Bleeding“. The track, which features Gary Clark Jr. and Gramatik, was not featured on Morello‘s “The Atlas Underground” album, but it was performed live in the past.

Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine/Prophets Of Rage) has posted another teaser related to his Atlas Underground project. This one features a snippet of new music as well as longer list of guests. Skrillex, Marcus Mumford (Mumford And Sons), Bassnectar, GZA and RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Boi (Outkast), Killer Mike (Run The Jewels), Gary Clark Jr., X Ambassadors, Portugal. The Man, K. Flay, Knife Party, Tim Mcilrath (Rise Against), Pretty Lights, Whethan, Herobust, Leikel147, Steve Aoki, Vic Mensa, Carl Restivo, Nico Stadi, and Matt Shultz (Cage The Elephant) are all expected to contribute.

Metallica, Mastodon, GWAR, Etc. To Release Albums On Pink Vinyl For “Ten Band One Cause”

The 10 artists set to release limited edition pink vinyls as part of this year’s “Ten Bands One Cause” event have been revealed. Contributors that may be of interest to readers of this site include Metallica, Mastodon, and GWAR. Other artists taking part include: Portugal. The Man, Lord Huron, Dustin Kensrue (Thrice), Gary Clark Jr, Lucinda Williams, Four Year Strong and Blue October. Proceeds from these pink vinyls will go towards the cancer support organization Gilda’s Club NYC. More info can be found HERE.

Foo Fighters Added To 2017 MusiCares Person Of The Year Tom Petty Tribute

Foo Fighters have been added to the list of artists set to perform at the MusiCares Person of the Year tribute show, which is being held to honor the legendary Tom Petty. That show will take place on February 10 in Los Angeles. Other artists tapped for the event include: Norah Jones, Gary Clark Jr., Don Henley, Kings Of Leon, Jeff Lynne, Randy Newman, Stevie Nicks, George Strait, Lucinda Williams, Jackson Browne, Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen, Elle King, Regina Spektor and the Bangles. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers will appropriately serve as the headliners.
