Slash, Myles Kennedy, And Two Of Their Conspirators Bandmates Contracted COVID-19 During The Making Of Their New Album

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators will be releasing their new album “4” on February 11 and Slash recently discussed the effort with Radio Regenbogen. In the same chat, the guitarist also revealed that him, Myles Kennedy, and two other members of the band all caught COVID-19 while working on the record.

Slash said the following about the COVID-19 cases:

“The funniest story about this record was the COVID story, because we took a tour bus to Nashville to keep ourselves safe — to get there and not travel commercially. And then we went and recorded the whole record, and then I got a phone call from Myles in the studio when I was about to do overdubs, and he goes, ‘Man, I tested positive.’ And subsequently, two of the other guys tested positive, so they all had to go into quarantine. And we still had to do percussion and background vocals, and so we sort of stalled. So we mixed what we had, which was a lot. And then we recorded the background vocals in the guest house of the house that we were all quarantined in. And then those guys got better. I tested positive finally. And so I had to quarantine. But I just got vaccinated, so I only had to quarantine for a few days. And so I came out, and then we did the percussion and mixed [the rest of] the record and drove home. So that was the funny experience about this particular record, was everybody having to navigate the whole COVID experience.”

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators Premiere “The River Is Rising” Video, Announce New Album & Tour

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators have premiered a new video for their new song “The River Is Rising.” This track is from their new album “4,” which will be released on February 11.

Slash commented:

“There’s two or three songs on the record that were written during the pandemic; everything else was written before. ‘The River is Rising’ was one of the last songs I wrote before we started pre-production, and because it was so fresh and has a certain groove and energy to it, it was the first thing we really attacked. It’s the newest song on the record, and as for the double-time part, that was something that I came up with and tagged onto the end of the arrangement. Then when we were over at RCA, Dave Cobb suggested we do it right after the breakdown. So, we went straight into the fast part, and I just started doing the guitar solo over it. It was one of those things where we were jamming around, trying to fish out the arrangement, and it just happened.”

Myles Kennedy added:

“The lyric ultimately explores how humans can be brainwashed or indoctrinated by some sort of dangerous idea. Once we shot the demo back and forth a few times, I personally felt confident that we had the album opener. To me, it’s an important track.”

Myles Kennedy Says Upcoming Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators Album Has “A Live Vibe To It”

During a recent interview with Audio Rink Radio, Myles Kennedy confirmed that the new Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators is already finished. According to the singer, the effort will have “a live vibe to it.”

Kennedy said the following:

“We made a record earlier this year, and it’s in the can. And I think the goal is just to — when the time’s appropriate, we’re gonna put it out. Hopefully next year — hopefully early next year. And it’s number — I’m trying to remember which number record it is. It’s hard to believe we’ve been doing this for… Gosh, I think the first songs I recorded with Slash were in 2009, which is crazy. So, yeah, [it’s] definitely a long run there.”

He also added:

“The thing about the record is that it’s got a live vibe to it. It was a record that was recorded in kind of an old-school way. So, with that said, without giving too much away, it definitely has a bit of that energy and that vibe that a lot of us listened to growing up. So, it was fun. It was a fun record to make.”

This news comes after the band recently revealed that they have signed to Gibson Records for the album.
