Corey Taylor Officially Confirms New Slipknot Members/Reveals Artists Being Covered On Upcoming Stone Sour EPs

Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) was the special guest on Chris Jericho’s (Fozzy) recent podcast, and officially confirmed Slipknot’s new bassist and drummer. As previously rumored, they are Jay Weinberg (drums) and Alessandro Venturella (bass).

Here’s what he had to say about working with them (transcribed by The PRP):

“It’s been killer, it’s been really, really good. It’s been cool to watch them come out of their shells too. Cause at first they weren’t sure how far to go—I mean that’s the respect level. They’re so respectful and they dig what they’re doing so much that they don’t want to cross any boundaries and they’re having a really good time. So we’re like ‘let’s step it up’, you know it’s time, it’s time. You know, start to get into it. You know, Alex our bass player, he’s so into it that he’s started to kind of come up to the front, really starting to own it. Jay‘s just starting to take it up… And yeah, it’s been really good. So every show has just consistently gotten better and better.”

You can listen to the podcast for more information on that.

On another note, Taylor also revealed the artists that will be covered on Stone Sour’s new EPs. He said “Straight Outta Burbank” will feature songs from Bad Brains, The Rolling Stones, Slayer, Mötley Crüe and Iron Maiden, and that “No Sleep Till Burbank“, will feature songs from Van Halen, Violent Femmes, Buzzcocks, Rage Against The Machine and AC/DC.

Stone Sour Stream “Meanwhile In Burbank…” In Full

Stone Sour are streaming their new covers EP, “Meanwhile In Burbank…,” in its entirety. The effort was originally released on Record Store Day (April 18), and has since been released on iTunes. The EP features the band covering songs from Metallica, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Kiss and Alice In Chains.

This is the first of three covers EPs from the band. The second one will feature songs from Mötley Crüe, Bad Brains and more, and the third will feature Van Halen’s “Unchained,” along with songs from Rage Against The Machine, Violent Femmes etc. Those are tentatively titled Straight Out Of Burbank and No Sleep ‘Till Burbank.
