  • Hatebreed’s Matt Byrne: “I Think This New Material Is Way Thrashier”

During a recent appearance on The Kevin Powell Podcast, Hatebreed’s Matt Byrne discussed the band’s upcoming album. According to him, the “new material is way thrashier.”

    Byrne said the following:

“I think this new material is way thrashier. There’s always a tinge of metal to HATEBREED. I think a lot of people try to kind of pigeonhole us as a hardcore band, but I think over the years we’ve just gone way more metal. There is still the hardcore punk vibe to us, but I think the new stuff is way more metal, thrashy, fast, SLAYER-esque, if I may use that term. That’s kind of the direction we’re going in right now, but there’s still a lot of groove to it. It’s definitely the heaviest stuff that we’ve written to date. I know that can be a cliché thing with bands — ‘Watch out, everybody. It’s the coolest stuff,’ or whatever they say — but it’s true. It’s true. It really is. So I’m excited for everyone to hear the other stuff too.”

He also added the following about their 2026 plans:

“New record, new music. It’s a new era of the band. We’ve had some lineup changes. We dealt with some curve balls this summer, some health stuff. So we’re coming out on top, we’re grinding through, we’re coming out on top. And, yeah — new production. We’re just stepping up the show 100% and just forging onward.”

  • Spineshank’s Jonny Santos On New Music: “We’re Gonna Start Small And Then We’ll See Where That Goes”

During an interview with Rock News Weekly, Spineshank vocalist Jonny Santos discussed the band’s new music plans. According to him, the group are “gonna start small and see where that goes.”

    Santos said the following:

“Right now, I think we’re just gonna start releasing songs. Let’s test the waters. Let’s see how people react.

We really wanted to [celebrate the 25th] anniversary of [SPINESHANK’s sophomore studio album] ‘The Height Of Callousness’ [on tour]. It’s important to us and, obviously, the fans love it. And then the talk of new music came around. Because we were kind of seeing this resurgence or renaissance of bands from our era doing really well. And if we wanna keep going, we probably should put some new music out.

So we’re gonna start small and then we’ll see where that goes. But if everything keeps going the way that it is, I could definitely see us putting out a full-length or keep releasing [singles] over the next year and then compiling all of them on to one record and putting that out. As soon as we get home [from playing Aftershock], we’re gonna be working on something while we’re home.”

  • Gene Simmons Officiates Charlie Benante And Carla Harvey’s Wedding

On October 12, Charlie Benante (Anthrax, Pantera) and Carla Harvey (The Violent Hour, ex-Butcher Babies) officially tied the knot at The Secret Garden in Las Vegas, NV. The wedding, which was officiated by Gene Simmons (KISS), featured over 200 guests including members of Pantera, Anthrax, Mötley Crüe, Dream Theater, etc. You can find some footage and photos below courtesy of Bruce Kulick (ex-KISS) and Rob Caggiano (ex-Anthrax, ex-Volbeat). Benante told People the following about the ceremony.

“The wedding is like an elegant Russ Meyer movie with a rock and roll twist. The initial idea was a small, intimate wedding with just a few friends and family, but we knew that we would not be able to get away with a small wedding once other friends heard about it. We just want our closest in a room together celebrating.”

  • Denial Of Life Were Allegedly Involved In A Police Pursuit While In Austria

According to ORF ON, Denial Of Life ended having a run in with the law while on tour with Darkest Hour and more in Austria. The band were allegedly pulled over twice near the German border, but still made their show on time.

The PRP shared more details on the report:

“An officer interviewed in the segment relayed that the band’s ‘camper van’ housed several individuals laying down rather than being seated upright and buckled in. Furthermore, authorities stated that upon being pulled over, the driver of the vehicle was found to be under the influence.

While police state the driver initially refused to take a drug test, he is said to have later acquiesced, upon which the police determined he was impaired from lack of sleep and use of an unspecified drug. Per the report, despite being told by authorities he was unfit to continue driving, police allege the individual then proceeded to get back in the vehicle and continue driving, leading to the police to pursue the band.

Upon being stopped again, police reported that another individual from the band’s party was behind the wheel by that time and was not impaired. The group were thus fined €2,000 and were able to make it to their gig in Nuremberg in time for their show.”
