In This Moment Are “Starting To Write New Music”

It looks like In This Moment have started working on new material. Maria Brink revealed the news during a recent appearance on SirusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.”

Brink said the following:

“There [are] conversations happening right now and music being made. We had time to finally build music studios in our houses. I think we’re on the same page as everybody else. And we’ve had time to empower our business in a lot of ways, learn a lot of the business side that we didn’t always typically understand or know and really diving into the business as a whole. I think we’ve been working really hard to empower the band a lot. We have some cool collaborations that we’re doing right now, and we are starting to write new music. So, it’s definitely happening.

All that time went by, and everybody’s feeling so much right now. I think we all have so much emotion, so it’s the perfect time for all artists — or painters or whoever it is — to be expressing themselves, ’cause they’re filled with all kinds of stuff. That’s the artists’ dream. They want a broken heart or some sort of tragedy — same with poets — to do good art.”

Maria Brink (In This Moment) Is Thinking About Working On A Solo Album

Maria Brink (In This Moment) was recently interviewed by Metal Hammer, and revealed that she is thinking about working on a solo album. If she does end up recording one, she says it will focus on “more of the obscure, intimate, quiet side of [her].”

Brink said the following when asked about her plans for 2018:

“I’m actually thinking, for the first time, of doing a solo album. I’m starting to slowly write, no hard plans. I’m not exactly sure when I’m gonna do it, but it’ll be more of the obscure, intimate, quiet side of me. Probably the only drums in it would be tribal drums and probably no distorted guitars. Just the softer side of me. That’s who I am. Chris [Howorth] would not want to do an obscure, artistic, dreamscaping album. That’s not who he is.”

She added that her solo performances would not have as many theatrics, saying “it would be just [her] and a piano and one dress and candles all over the whole stage.”

She also said the following when asked if the idea frightens her at all:

“It doesn’t frighten me, it sounds amazing. I love change. I’m a Sagittarius and I love adventure and new beginnings. New experiences because it makes me feel like I’m living. When I play piano by myself and sing, something really special happens. I connect to something that I love. My favorite moment in our In This Moment set is when I go out by myself to play a song on the piano. That would be me being able to do that for a whole intimate set, and I think it would fill my soul.”

In This Moment Cancel European Tour Due To Chris Howorth’s Injury

In This Moment have been forced to cancel their European tour. This decision was made due to a neck injury sustained by Chris Howorth.

Howorth said the following:

“The people closest to me already know, but sadly, now it’s time for the world to know. I have injured my neck and am unable to move my head more than an inch or two in any direction & I now have the burden of making some pretty weighty decisions for myself. In order to continue performing live, I am aggressively seeking treatment & must remain at home in Los Angeles.

I am devastated that our European shows are affected by this but in order to keep moving forward with the band, it’s imperative to work on getting better. I cannot express how appreciative I am that we have such amazing fans & loving support from all over the world. I feel as if I’m letting you down & it breaks my heart. I truly hope to see you all again in the near future.”

Maria Brink added:

“It is so heartbreaking to me that we have to cancel this tour. The last time we were in Europe, I felt such fire & magic at the shows- I have been absolutely dying to get back. It’s a raw, rare energy that left a serious impact on us. It’s probably easy for everyone to think “why don’t you just go without Chris,” but the truth is, he is my partner, brother & one of my closest friends.

Throughout the years, Chris has stood strong by my side through everything- he’s never left me behind. I can’t bring myself to do this tour without him, it simply would not be In This Moment. Our fans would not be getting a true ITM show without him. We take this very seriously & are so deeply sorry to have to do this. We have unconditional LOVE our Europe fans. Chris is on top of taking care of himself & I firmly believe he can be back to playing soon. Blood Legion Forever.”
