Chelsea Wolfe Shares New Song “Diana” From “Dark Nights: Death Metal Soundtrack”

Chelsea Wolfe has shared a new song titled “Diana.” This track is from the soundtrack to the DC Comics series “Dark Nights: Death Metal.” That compilation was executive produced by Tyler Bates and it will be released in digital outlets on June 18 (physical copies out July 16).

Wolfe commented:

“It has been such an honor and delight to be involved in this whole project, from contributing a song to the soundtrack, to voicing Wonder Woman for the DC Comics Sonic Metalverse episodes. I really love the story and artwork of this Dark Nights: Death Metal series, and felt really drawn to Diana’s part in the story – her strength and perspective. There’s this moment in the first comic book issue where she meets with Wally West and he’s so drained from his travels and all he’s had to do. I picked up on this intimate energy between them that felt almost romantic, but more just like two old friends who have an understanding between them – a moment of comfort and respite amongst all the fighting and chaos. I ended up writing this song about that encounter. Working with Tyler Bates on ‘Diana’ was a great experience. He’s obviously so killer at creating music that feels like the soundtrack to your own movie, so between him and my co-producer Ben Chisholm there was this elevated sonic landscape surrounding the song that just brought it to a different level.”

The first single from that effort, Rise Against‘s “Broken Dreams, Inc.,“ can be found HERE.

Rise Against Premiere Lyric Video For New Song “Broken Dreams, Inc.”

Rise Against have premiered a lyric video for their new song “Broken Dreams, Inc.” The clip features art from DC’s “Dark Nights: Death Metal” drawn by Greg Capullo. The track is from the upcoming “Dark Nights: Death Metal The Original Soundtrack.” Tim McIIlrath commented:

“One word, ‘disruption.’ You have to put power into the hands of the people, not business, you have to value people and community over profit. You can’t have a shareholder-run country or a shareholder-run world, a world that values profit above all else, because profit above all else can result in dangerous repercussions for humankind.”

Black Veil Brides, Ex-Slayer, Etc. Members Involved In New Animated “Dark Nights: Death Metal” Short Film

The first episode of DC Comics‘ “Dark Nights: Death Metal” series has been shared online. The short film is based on the comic series by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo and it features a score by Tyler Bates (“Guardians Of The Galaxy”, “John Wick”). A number of rock/metal musicians are also involved including Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, etc.), who contributed percussion, Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, etc.), who contributed guitar fx, Andy Biersack (Black Veil Brides), who voiced Batman, and Chelsea Wolfe, who voiced Wonder Woman. Carach Angren‘s “Skull With A Forked Tongue” can also be heard during the credits.

In related news, Loma Vista Recordings will also be releasing the “Dark Nights: Death Metal The Original Soundtrack” in 2021. A teaser of Rise Against‘s “Broken Dreams, Inc.” from the effort can be found below. The full track is expected to be released on Wednesday (September 16). Bates said the following about the soundtrack:

“In ‘Dark Nights: Death Metal‘, Loma Vista Recordings and I saw an opportunity to bring artists together to create a diverse soundtrack that is inspired directly by this incredible comic series. Our intent is not to literally create a death metal soundtrack, but instead, to illuminate the darkest corners of each character’s psyche from an authentic perspective that is thematically inherent in death metal music.

But a soundtrack is merely a collection of songs unless it is holistically intertwined with the story teller’s original work. With the support of DC and Loma Vista Recordings, and with the help of several artists, I’m creating a short-form animatic film series derived from Greg Capullo‘s original artwork for ‘Dark Nights: Death Metal‘.

I’ve invited artists on the soundtrack, and pop-culture personalities alike, to voice the characters illustrated in Scott and Greg‘s masterful take on classic DC characters. This has possibly never been more relevant to real life than the challenging time the world is currently experiencing.”

Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath added:

“Personally, being involved with this soundtrack is really fantastic, Growing up, my little brother and I would ride our bikes to the newsstand near our house and spend all our money on the latest comic books, and Batman was a favorite.

Also, Zach, our guitarist, is probably the biggest comic book geek in our band. He’s talked about how, along with his brother and father, they were all big DC fans – Batman, Robin, Superman, Aquaman, all the comic book series, the TV shows, and feature films. So, yes, we’re all very excited about being part of this.”

Marilyn Manson’s “Warship My Wreck” To Be Featured On “Dark Nights: Death Metal” Soundtrack

Marilyn Manson’s frequent collaborator Tyler Bates will be producing and writing music for DC Comics’ “Dark Nights: Death Metal” soundtrack. That effort will feature songs inspired by the comic series and animatic score sequences related to each issue. An animated video promoting “Dark Nights: Death Metal” was recently released and it features Manson’s “Warship My Wreck.” DC said the following:

“Get ready for the earth-shattering encore! The legendary team behind ‘Dark Nights: Metal’ and ‘Batman: Last Knight On Earth’ take center stage and reunite for one last tour. When the Earth is enveloped by the Dark Multiverse, the Justice League is at the mercy of the Batman Who Laughs. Humanity struggles to survive in a hellish landscape twisted beyond recognition, while Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman have all been separated and fight to survive. Unleash the beast and let the head banging begin!”
