Lucifer Premiere “Crucifix (I Burn For You)” Video

Lucifer have premiered a new video for their new song “Crucifix (I Burn For You).” This track is from the band’s new album “Lucifer IV,” which will be released on October 29. Johanna Sadonis commented:

“We are thrilled to release the music video for our new single ‘Crucifix (I Burn For You)’. The sequel to our last video ‘Bring Me His Head’ was shot in one take with a vintage 70s tube camera just like its predecessor by photographer Crille Forsberg and directed by Amir Chamdin. It has been a true honor to work with them, especially considering the astonishing portfolios they have under their belt. They’ve literally worked with anyone from The Hellacopters to Adele, from Ghost to Pharrell Williams. Very notable for me personally was Crille shooting David Bowie’s very last video ‘Lazarus’, that shook me to the bone. Well, and now they’ve worked with Lucifer. And what a bloody workday it was!”

Lucifer Premiere “Bring Me His Head” Video

Lucifer have premiered a new video for their new song “Bring Me His Head.” This track is from the band’s new album “Lucifer IV,” which will be released on October 29. Johanna Sadonis commented:

“‘Carrie’ is one of my favorite movies. Being an outsider myself my entire life, I’ve always identified with her. We are very excited that this time we got to work with director Amir Chamdin and photographer Crille Forsberg on our videos. Their body of work is quite breathtaking, if you look it up, so it was a real honor. The video to ‘Bring Me His Head’ is only one part of the story but we can’t give anything more away at this point.”

Lucifer Reveal Cover Art & Track Listing For New Album “Lucifer IV”

Lucifer have officially revealed the cover art and track listing for their new album “Lucifer IV.” That effort will be released on October 29.

“Lucifer IV” Track Listing:

01. “Archangel Of Death”
02. “Wild Hearses”
03. “Crucifix (I Burn For You)”
04. “Bring Me His Head”
05. “Mausoleum”
06. “The Funeral Pyre”
07. “Cold As A Tombstone”
08. “Louise”
09. “Nightmare”
10. “Orion”
11. “Phobos”

Johanna Sadonis said the following about the cover art:

“As a kid I was fascinated by Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’. A sexually liberated and very powerful business woman dancing in front of burning crosses. But that was considered self indulgent and blasphemous to many men, and unfortunately also some women. It was the ultimate provocation of “the whore”. To me figures like her and so many other women that try to express themselves freely and the backlash that follows, are symbolized by the eternal witch that gets put up on the stake and must be burnt to death. As a female in this world and in the business I’ve had my own share of emotional and physical abuse. It has not made me bitter but very defiant. The artwork, as well as some of the lyrical content of this album is my personal “Fuck You” to the patriarchy, to the men and their codependent women that have or have tried to belittle, gaslight, emotionally assault and spread untruths about me – the ones that tried to keep me from making music. Did I have to sign a contract to keep me silent in the past? Yes I have. But, here I am, continuing to make one album after the next with my great peers in Lucifer. Try to put me on the stake and I’ll laugh in your face. You can’t hold down my spirit. You can also look at the cover this way; the woman gets the role assigned of the ever so maternal holy Mary or the whore but not Jesus? So I decided I’m gonna get up on that damn cross myself then. Time to move over. I drew a sketch and we had it built by our cross carpenter general. Unfortunately not by Jesus, the carpenter, himself. One of my favorite photographers, Ester Segarra, masterfully captured the real life scene after my mock idea, that consisted of a wooden Jesus on a crucifix set aglow from below to symbolise the burning fire of the stake. If you see this cover as a mockery of Christianity – great – whatever tickles you! But it is so much more than that. And that is just the cover. I cannot wait to let the music speak, come album release!”

Lucifer Team Up With Kadavar For New Split Covers Release

Lucifer and Kadavar have teamed up for a new split single. The release includes Lucifer’s cover of Dust’s “Pull Away/So Many Times” and Kadavar’s cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown).” Both tracks can be streamed below. 7-inch vinyl pressings will also be available on March 19. Lucifer’s Johanna Sadonis commented:

“Both Kadavar and Lucifer have their roots in Berlin and we go back to the founding days of both bands where we shared the same scene. With our combined love for the deep cuts of the ‘60s and ‘70s we decided to cover two of our favorite songs together for a 7″ single. We picked Marky Ramone’s criminally underrated, glorious first band Dust. It is the first time that I duet together with our guitarist Linus Björklund and we had a blast recording it! Kadavar most relevantly chose to pay homage to the late Peter Green with this classic Fleetwood Mac number. Being a huge Fleetwood Mac fan myself this is the perfect choice to round off this nugget. We are very excited about this single and hope you dig our tributes!”

Lucifer Release Cover Of Tom Waits’ “Dirt In The Ground”

Lucifer have released a cover of Tom Waits’ “Dirt In The Ground.” You can check that out below. The track can also be purchased on 7” vinyl in the band’s North American and European merch stores. The group commented:

“We were cranking Tom Waits’ Bone Machine album in the car one day. When ‘Dirt In The Ground’ came on it sounded like he had written it just for Lucifer and we felt an ethereal urge to play it. Nothing beats the director of doom but here’s our interpretation of one of the heaviest songs ever.”
