Ash Soan (Adele, Dua Lipa, etc.) recently covered Three Days Grace’s “I Hate Everything About You” on a three-piece drum kit after hearing it for the first time without percussion. You can see footage of him adding his own drum parts to the song in the below video from Drumeo:
Gore., The Haunt, Avril Lavigne, Charlotte Sands, and Bailey Spinn have all covered songs from Alanis Morissette‘s “Jagged Little Pill“ for the new film “Mile End Kicks.” That movie just opened in theaters and it focuses on a music critic who moves to Montreal, QC to write a new book about the aforementioned album. Lavigne’s cover of “Ironic,” Spinn’s cover of “Wake Up,” The Haunt’s cover of “Forgiven,” Gore.’s cover of “You Learn,” and Sands’ cover of “Mary Jane” can be streamed below courtesy of Sumerian Records.
Voivod have revealed that they will be releasing a new live album, titled “Symphonique,” on June 5. The effort was recorded during the band’s June 4, 2025 show with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City, QC. Drummer Michel “Away” Langevin commented:
“This live album with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra is a longtime dream turned reality. Thankfully, we will experience it again in 2027 with the Orchestre Symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, right in the region where Voïvod formed back in 1983. We wish to take this show across the globe with local orchestras one day, but in the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this epic release. It’s the closest we’ve ever come to sounding like a dystopian sci-fi movie soundtrack, another dream of ours!”
He also added the following about the single:
“Taken from the album ‘Killing Technology,’ ‘Forgotten in Space‘ transports us to a Mad Max-esque science-fiction universe. Denis “Piggy” D’Amour was even inspired by it when composing parts of the original version. This incredible symphonic masterpiece, orchestrated by Hugo Begin, offers a powerful orchestral introduction that takes us on a musical journey where the fusion of metal and classical music invites us to imagine, for 6 minutes and 27 seconds, that humanity itself may have been forgotten in space…”
