• Alissa White-Gluz (Ex-Arch Enemy) Recruits Guitarists Alyssa Day And Dani Sophia

Alissa White-Gluz (ex-Arch Enemy) has recruited guitarists Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia for her solo project. New music is expected to surface soon.

White-Gluz told Germany’s Metal Hammer the following about her departure from Arch Enemy:

“It was definitely difficult but change is always a wild mix of fear and excitement. When you spend that many years with something, it becomes a huge part of your life and identity. So making that announcement wasn’t something I took lightly. I had devoted an enormous amount of my creative energy to the project for more than half of my career.

I really love music and art, I can’t bear to treat it like just another day at the office. That’s why I put so much extra care and intention into every lyric, performance, recording, and visual that I do. I felt a real responsibility to handle the announcement with respect for the fans, for the music, and for myself. Just getting straight to the point felt like the only way to honor my past while also stepping confidently into what comes next.”

She continued when asked about the reactions she received following the announcement:

“The fans’ and industry peers’ responses honestly blew me away. There was so much love, encouragement, and genuine support, more than ever before, and it felt incredibly energizing. What really stood out to me was how strongly people connected to the idea of my growth and evolution. It made me feel deeply grateful and also very motivated. It reinforced that the connection we’ve built is strong, and that it naturally carries forward. That is something I have always been focused on in my career: stepping outside of my comfort zone and outside of the box so that I can have artistic freedom without being typecast. That support gave me a lot of confidence and excitement about the future, because I really do believe that art and artists are meant to evolve.”

She also explained why it was time to go solo:

“The intention was always there, but I never wanted to rush something that personal or force it into the wrong moment. I knew this project needed the right headspace, focus, and creative freedom to really come alive. Now feels right because there’s real momentum. I have clarity, excitement, and the space to fully commit to it, and everything is aligning creatively. I know what I want to express, I know how I want it to sound and feel, and I’m genuinely energized by the process. This album feels like a natural evolution, something I’ve been building toward for a long time, and that makes this moment feel both exciting and right.”

She also added the following about Day and Sophia:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with two incredibly talented guitarists: Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia. So far the music we are making together is exactly what I have always wanted. I feel like they both have such unique playing styles that complement each other to make our collaborative work super heavy, energetic, catchy and evocative at the same time. I really couldn’t be happier and more honored to be working alongside such talented and inspiring musicians. Fans will not have to wait long at all to hear and see what we have been up to.”

  • Nick Barker Working On New Autobiography

Nick Barker, who is known for his work with Brujeria, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Lock Up, and more, is currently working on an autobiography. This news comes amid his battle with chronic kidney failure.

Barker told the Pod Scum podcast the following:

“I’m in the middle of doing [the book] right now.”

He went on to say the process is “very cathartic”:

“We focused on my childhood and how I started playing drums, how I got into music,” he explained. “And my high school thrash band, who, we supported a few of the U.K. thrash bands at the time, RE-ANIMATOR and XENTRIX and LAWNMOWER DETH. And then, obviously, my musical taste started to evolve as I grew older. So I got into death metal, and I formed a death metal band. And that was when I was tape trading, in the late ’80s, early ’90s. And that’s how I discovered CRADLE OF FILTH, through the underground, by the demo, ‘Total Fucking Darkness’. And it was at a time when death metal was starting to stagnate. My band was called CATALEPSY, and we had to change the name to MONOLITH. And it was kind of like generic death metal, NAPALM DEATH meets OBITUARY meets ENTOMBED. And we recorded an album called ‘Tales Of The Macabre’ for Cacophonous Records, but it got shelved. And there was eight tracks. And a lot of people now from different record labels are sweating me about it, like, ‘Can we release it? Do you you have the master tapes. We’d like to release the album.’ It’s funny because it’s ironic — that band is more popular now than what it was 30 years ago.”

    Barker also addressed his health:

“It’s going good. I’m on the slimming pen, the Mounjaro, to help me get the weight off because I’m a foodie. It’s difficult. And when you’re in your fifties, it’s even more difficult. Because of the side effects from renal failure, one of them is chronic fatigue. So, I’m fucked just getting dressed and taking a shower and doing some housework. It knocks the stuffing outta me. But it’s going well. I passed all the pre-surgery assessments, so I’m on the transplant list. It sounds horrible, [but] I’m just waiting for someone to die so I can get the kidney. But I’ve been told I have a rare blood type. I’m type O. And apparently it’s kind of rare; it’s not the usual. And also my wife, she signed up for the paired donor program, which means she’s gonna donate one of her kidneys so I get pushed to the front of the queue.

I can’t wait to get the transplant so I can really start getting back doing stuff and get my health and build up my stamina again. It’s one day at a time, but I’ve ticked all the boxes, jumped through all the hoops. It’s just a waiting game now. Because I live in Prince George [in Canada], which is in the north of British Columbia, the renal unit is down in Vancouver, so I’ll have to fly down to Vancouver for the operation… I’ve got a weight review at the end of March, because I’ve still gotta drop a little bit of weight, because they have to make an incision in the stomach. And that’s where the concentration is. So I’ve got a weight review in the end of March, and my surgeon, the nephrologist, he’s hoping by the end of the year, things will be good.”

Barker also added that he is “truly humbled” by those who donated to his GoFundMe:

“I really am. My parents weren’t the most loving parents, so to get all the love from fans and the metal community, it really means a lot to me. It really does. I owe so much to those people and the people that donated. So, I’m really focused on getting my health back and getting back beyond the drums ASAP [as soon as possible].”

He then circled back to the book when asked if his “rough childhood” was hard to write about:

“I didn’t really focus so much on it. There was a basic outline. I don’t wanna give those horrible people any page space. So we just covered it lightly. It was a shitty upbringing, and music was my escapism.”

He also explained why he decided to write a book:

“A lot of people in the industry were telling me, especially with this downtime that I have, it’s, like, ‘Why don’t you just write a memoir, write your autobiography? You’ve played with so many bands and done so much shit. People wanna hear about it and where you come from, how you came up,’ et cetera, et cetera.

Yeah, it’s fun. It’s a lot of fun, actually, going back and talking about it.”

He continued when asked about other autobiographies he has read:

“Some of them. Yeah, I do read a lot of autobiographies. The Ozzy [Osbourne] one was great. He was a fucking lunatic. When you read his book, ‘[I Am] Ozzy’, you can hear his voice, when you’re reading the anecdotes. You can hear his voice telling it to you. And also the Mike Tyson autobiography was very good as well. I’ve got ‘The Dirt’ by MÖTLEY CRÜE. But you know what? I don’t want my book to be another one of those just ‘sex, drugs and rock and roll’. I mean, it does touch on that because there was a lot of that throughout my career. But I don’t want it be just all about that. I want it to be about the different bands I played in, the different time periods. And I got fucked over here, I made some money there, and in between there’s the sex, drugs and rock and roll.”

Barker went on to say some of the moments in his life were hard to recall:

“There was a few parts I was kind of hazy on, so I reached out to some friends, bandmembers and crew guys that were there, and just, ‘Hey, remember this?, and get their take on it,” he explained. “And then it kind of spurred my memory a little bit.”

  • Behemoth Cancel India Show Due To “Credible Threats”

Behemoth have cancelled their March 3 show in Bangalore, India. The concert was scrapped after the band “received numerous credible threats stemming from religious Christian groups.”

The group issued the following statement:

“Behemoth regret to announce the cancellation of the band’s scheduled performance on March 3 in Bangalore, India.

Over the past few weeks, we and our team have received numerous credible threats stemming from religious Christian groups who have been applying pressure to authorities and to the promoter in an effort to stop the show from taking place. These threats have raised serious concerns regarding the band’s safety and security, including the possibility of arrest or physical danger.

We have been in close contact with the local promoter throughout this process. We want to make it clear that this cancellation is not the fault of the promoter, who has acted in good faith at every stage. Despite genuine efforts, it was not possible to obtain sufficient assurances that the band would be protected from legal consequences or security risks. On that basis, we have made the decision to cancel the show.

This is another example of religious fanaticism attempting to impose itself on artistic expression, something the band has recently faced in Turkey. It is deeply concerning to see what feels like a growing movement toward censorship around the world. In this modern age, artists should not face intimidation, threats, or the risk of imprisonment for performing their art.

Regardless of religion, race, or culture, freedom of expression must remain a fundamental principle. We believe it is important that people stand together in support of liberal values and creative freedom.

To our legions in India, we are deeply disappointed that we will not be able to perform for you on this occasion. We appreciate your support and hope to return soon.

    Stay strong. Stay free.”

  • The Warning And Carín León Share “Love To Be Loved” Performance Video

The Warning and Carín León have shared a new performance video for their collaborative track “Love To Be Loved.” You can check that out below:

    The Warning previously commented:

“We are so excited about this song. As a rock band, this is something completely different for us and a chance to explore new sounds. Originally co-written with Teddy Swims, the song naturally blends country, rock, and pop in a way that felt fresh and inspiring from the start. Blending musical worlds is always exciting, and working with our fellow Mexican artist Carín León made the experience even more special. It’s a collaboration that pushed us creatively and shows a new side of The Warning.”

    León added:

“I’m truly happy and excited about this collaboration with these amazing artists, The Warning, a band I deeply admire that reaffirms to me that Mexican music and Mexican rock are far from dead — they’re more present and stronger than ever. I’m also really grateful to collaborate alongside artists with such important projects for Mexican music and culture, and to be able to release this great song together. I truly hope people connect with it, appreciate it, and carry it in their hearts for a long time.”

  • Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine On Retirement Plans: “When I Can’t Play Anymore, I Won’t”

During a recent interview with Primordial Radio, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine discussed his plans to retire following a lengthy farewell tour. He says “when [he] can’t play anymore, [he] won’t.”

    Mustaine said the following:

“You can see it right there [on my left hand] — there’s a line going across my palm right there. That’s, called Dupuytren contracture and it’s basically gonna pull my finger down like this, where I won’t be able to play. So the answer to your question [about how long the farewell tour is going to be] is, yeah, when I can’t play anymore, I won’t. I’m not gonna stop before I can’t. And I don’t know how long it’s gonna take for this disease to progress. My pinky and this finger on one side’s numb. My thumb’s numb on [the right] side. That’s all from having my neck broken and having it fused together, ’cause I have a piece of metal in my neck with screws holding the two vertebrae together. And consequently, I’ve got numbness in my hand. I mean, what else can I possibly have happen to my hands?”

  • Nancy Wilson: “We Need To Make One More Heart Album”

During a recent appearance on Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast, Heart’s Nancy Wilson discussed the possibility of a new album. She says she would like to do one more record with the group.

    Wilson said the following:

“I go through these phases. Like right now I’m in a phase of really feeling like creating some new songs. And I’ve got songs going on. But I feel like this is the perfect time for HEART — like this year, next year — to make a victory lap out of our legacy. So I figure we need to make one more HEART album. And especially with these players that we have in the lineup right now in this band. We’re just really excited to play together, and there’s no kind of limits on what we could kind of pull off as musicians. So I’ve got a few songs, and Ann’s [Wilson, HEART singer and Nancy’s sister] working with those guys in her side band right now writing other songs. But I think I’m gonna want to make the last HEART album and do the victory lap and make 2027 mainly about the HEART film, the HEART documentary.”

She went on to discuss the band’s biopic:

“We’ve got a big movie, and we’ve got a final draft soon to read that Carrie Brownstein, actually, [is working on] — she did ‘Portlandia’, of SLEATER-KINNEY fame — she’s a buddy and she’s a good writer too. And we’ve been working mainly with her… And it’s so weird too, ’cause you kind of have to go, well, okay, who would be the actor that plays you?”

“For me, I mean, somebody like Elle Fanning. She’s great. Florence Pugh would make an incredible Ann Wilson, I think. I don’t know. It’s just fun to think about anyway.”

She then circled back when asked if it’s “weird” to “think of a victory lap”:

“Kind of, but then as the grandchildren start arriving, [it’s] not as crazy to think about doing less of the big rock tour. I mean, it’s entirely exhausting to do that travel. And when you’re not quite as young and rubbery as you always were, going through almost 50 years-ish of doing that, you really get paid for the travel on those rock tours. The show itself is the thrill — the million thrills and the glory and that magic thing — and I would do that for free, and I probably will end up doing music somehow for as long as I can live. But the tour part, it’s really rough on you.”
