Tronos (Napalm Death, Etc.) Premiere New Song “Premonition” Feat. Denis “Snake” Belanger (Voivod) & Billy Gould (Faith No More)

Tronos (Napalm Death, etc.) have premiered a new song titled “Premonition.” The track, which features Denis “Snake” Belanger (Voivod) and Billy Gould (Faith No More), will appear on the band’s new album “Celestial Mechanics“ (out April 12).

Shane Embury (Napalm Death) commented:

“I wrote the words to ‘Premonition‘ on tour one year on a day-off in Portugal. I think it might have been on one of my birthdays away from home. I mean, when I am ever at home? The words are reflections about the life I have led – how any of our lives, I suppose, start small. How at times it feels dark and scary, but at times there’s the happiness of achievement.

Life feels continuously insecure sometimes but I know that when I feel my strongest, when I gaze at the life I have in part helped to create for my children, I have no regrets. As life speeds faster onwards, I am prepared to leave one day knowing I have achieved more than was ever expected of me. To add, also having the chance to have Snake from Voivod singing on this track with me and Billy playing bass was an honor.

I couldn’t have thought of any other people more perfect for this track. It captures the emotion of a journey onwards and towards a higher plane of existence and has a special meaning for me!”

Tronos (Napalm Death, Etc.) Premiere New Song “Birth Womb”

Tronos, the project led by Shame Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria, etc.) and producer Russ Russell (At The Gates, Napalm Death), have premiered a new song titled “Birth Womb.” The group said the following:

“This song talks about sacrifice, betrayal of emotion and the process of feeling temporary defeat. But in experiencing these feelings you realise that you can be a stronger person for the experience, the knowledge that maybe you are not unique and we are all dealing with our personal trials on a day-to-day basis.”

“Birth Womb” is from the band’s debut album “Celestial Mechanics,” which will be released on April 12. It’s worth noting that Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, ex-Soilwork) handled the drumming for the effort and that it will also feature Faith No More’s Billy Gould (bass), Mastodon’s Troy Sanders (bass), Voivod’s Denis “Snake” Belanger (vocals), Nuclear Assault’s Dan Lilker (bass), and The Wonder Stuff’s Erica Nockalls (vocals/violin).

Napalm Death’s Shane Embury Talks About His Upcoming Side Projects With Mastodon, Faith No More, Etc. Members

Napalm Death’s Shane Embury was recently interviewed on The Void With Christina and discussed two side projects he has in the works with members of Mastodon and more. You can watch the full interview and read some excerpts below:

Embury said the following about Tronos, which involves Napalm Death producer Russ Russell, Faith No More‘s Billy Gould, Mastodon‘s Troy Sanders, and a member of Voivod:

“One project, for about five years, I’ve been working on with a guy who produces our records [Russ Russell,] it’s got kind of a doomyish, doomy, weird, shoegazing, doomy kind of music. Billy [Gould] from Faith No More plays bass on some of the tracks, Troy [Sanders] from Mastodon, a guy from Voivod on guitar. ‘Cause the guy who produces our albums, he’s part of it so, we can record for free. So he’s been zoning out on it forever. It’s called Tronos—which is just Spanish for ‘thrones’—I nicked it from a ‘Game Of Thrones‘ DVD in Spanish.

Russ Russell, the guy who produces the Napalm albums and stuff, and all the stuff that I’ve been involved with, he’s got quite a graphic deal as well… So he’s got lots of visual stuff going on and if we can pull it off I’d like to play the ‘Roadburn Festival‘ in Holland, cause then you’d be able to do the projections. And because of the people involved I can only imagine doing the odd show here and there.”

He also said the following about another project, which features Mastodon‘s Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor, along with ex-Brutal Truth frontman Kevin Sharp:

“Kevin [Sharp] probably didn’t mention that me and him are doing a project with Bill and Bran from Mastodon. Well, he’s got about three million riffs now, we’ve just gotta try to arrange them into songs, it’s heavy stuff. We demoed it in Bill‘s studio, ’cause Kevin built Bill‘s studio for him. Kevin‘s a grindcore carpenter. So we just got a buncha riffs there, it’s a case of trying to work it out, it’s gonna take awhile.”

On another note, he also talked a bit about Napalm Death’s new material:

“It’s fast. But there’s also a lot of weird… Hopefully some—I don’t want to say experimental—but hopefully once it’s done it will go in a few different directions.”

“I don’t want to say noise—there might be some stuff like that—but there’s like a couple of mid-paced Killing Joke-esque influences. So hopefully we veer off in a few directions and hopefully it will make the album, a bit… it will still be abrasive, but not constantly fast all the time.

There is some extremely fast stuff, but ya know… We’ve all been kind of like ticking away every album, trying a little bit of this, a little bit of that, so each step… So this one will be the most diverse one yet, I hope.”
